Does views relate to money earned on Youtube?

I've looked around briefly and wasn't able to find this but when it comes to earning on Youtube is it only based on ad clicks or do views play a part too? I've seen people say for every 1k views they make $7.50 but then other places say that views don't matter it's how many people click on the ads. Does anyone have any insight here?

Also does becoming a partner increase the amount you earn or does that also all just depend on other variables?

If you are doing adsense then views probably relate to the earnings. It's hard to tell though, it might depend on the age and demografic of the audience. If you have a pile of cartoons and 7 year olds watch them then you probably will not convert as well.

But 7 year olds are not allowed to have an account so they would be on mums or dads account so it shouldnt matter?
