Does profile links still working?

I just want to see if I need to spend part of my budget on them. I understand that the SEO effect from them will not. Some people say it's kind of like an airbag. But what is it?They are good foundation links. Some call it "social fortress".
If you are expecting a rank increase from them though, I don't think that's happening.

They are probably referring to foundation links I mentioned or "pillow" ones used for diversity of sources and anchors.

If you have a good presence on a forum, and you have a good description of your website link, then it's a great idea.
On the flip side, if you have 100 forum links in a week, with no description, then that's a waste of time, ranking & money.
Also consider how much traffic you might direct to your site via this portal, with a few posts a week.
Nothing to do with SEO, but as far as I know, people still like to click on links and follow tings.

They don't improve your rank. They can be used for branding purpose.

I was under the impression that @SarkarSEO profile on here, help ranked his website.

Can be used for diversification. But not much for ranking. They don't hold much power in 2021.

I think that worth to keep them if you already have. They can bring at least some direct hits from time to time.
