Parasite seo is still being used by casino sites so it's not dead.
Blogging I have not done for years now. I make programmatic type of sites though that have many pages similar to blogs they still rank the same.
Parasite seo is much better if you get a positive roi. For example if you buy a outlook post for 300 dollars and get 1000 dollars back from the article it's a plus but if it's 0 then you need to change your offer

He was referring to OutlookIndia. That's a well-known parasite ranking on top for many keywords in many niches. You can buy a guest post there for $250-300, target your keywords, add your link, and hope to cover your investment. However, if the keyword is valuable, competitors will likely buy guest posts for it too. If you're lucky, your article will outrank competitors and show up in searches.
You can see OutlookIndia when searching keywords like gambling, free movies, sport,... But I see OutlookIndia has taken a huge beating recently. They don't appear as often as before.

You're in the best position to let us know if your method worked or not.
To succeed with parasite choose a parasite that is doing really well and go for a keyword that isn't already dominated by strong authority sites in that niche.
An important thing, don't waste or spend much time on a parasite or keyword, if a keyword fails to rank after a few weeks or days, leave it go to the next. Many people make the mistakes of wanting to buy links. That effectively defeats the purpose of using parasite websites.

If you are a newbie. You can try free parasites like medium . com. Find a long tail keyword on a high broad niches. Then try to rank it using free parasites (google is your friend on finding a free parasites)

Check the SERPs of keywords/niches you are wanting to work with. Do you see any of the classic parasites (linkedin, medium, reddit, outlookindia etc) in the first page of results? If so, parasite SEO is working for your niche.

Parasite SEO works great for many of my clients in casino and health niches. But you should be ready to spend money or have quality article to grab the attention from bloggers/contributors.
SEO is evolving faster now, so we should update ourself constantly.
