Does Google provide true monthly search volume through their keyword tool? I have an article rank on the first page of Google with over 10.000 searches per month, but I have no traffic from that article? Please share your ideas?

Same story - number 1 for keyword and no love from searches - WTF - is there any other research tool

NO its not accurate, Google purposely distorts these numbers to make it harder for people to understand how rankings work.

It provides true search volume exactly like alexa provides true traffic stats.

I wouldn't rely on it tbh, from experience it is often inaccurate if not highly inaccurate.

its an "estimate", it does give you an idea of how many searches, but don't bank on it!

i find it better to use go0gle insights to estimate volumes

basically, what i do is compare the keyword/s i am interested in against terms that i rank #1 for

so for example, if i rank #1 for a certain term, and i get 10000 hits a month for that, and i compare it to another term that gets 1.5 times the volume, i know more or less how much traffic i will get (15000)

i find this much more accurate than the keyword tool

It's unfortunate but their keyword tool seems to be fairly inaccurate. I have sites that should be getting no clicks according to G and they are doing well... others are just the opposite. I think it gives a "guide" but as far as hard numbers it just doesn't seem to work.

I think the most productive way to use it is as a "sales tool"... I can show people how many or how few a search term gets by using "broad" or "exact", whichever best meets my needs!

Actually its not good practice to completely rely on those results, it may be better to check comparatively with other options also

Are they [EXACT] search count? Is the keyword associated with any product and their site already ranking in top three?

Is it 10,000 exact match or broad match? Also, are you sure you are on first page of google?, just searching for it on your browser is not an accurate way to check since google returns results based on your previous browsing history.

Google keyword tool gives you an idea of volume but I only ever use it as a guide to see if the niche is worth investigating more.

We all know that Google deliberately gives out distorted search data. Does anybody here uses keyword tools that do not rely on Google's data? What kind of results do you have?
