Simple question: Does changing the theme of your website completely affect SEO negatively?

All the same content, of course, just the layout and visuals.

Unless your theme have some On Page problems like double H1...

Based on my own experience, yes, but not for long. Probably impacted me for a month after google had recrawled everything.

I think as others said it can affect but for a few days and then recover. Other thing is if the themes are very different, use a different structure and so on... then it will affect for sure!

spot on.
shopify as an example where themes changed from non-sectioned to sectioned, while you're not introducing any seo changes it's still seen as 'different' to google.
But you have a new site so you'll bounce back.

Yes, I mean that kind of big changes. Always keep in mind Google is basically a crawler, it reads your web. It uses also AI but... if the crawler sees a lot of changes... (anyway this is just some thoughts, since I obviosuly don't know the Google Algorythm)
