Blog is just another word for content on our site. And, like any content its not the type that's important but the quality, helpfulness and thought that goes into it. If its just going to be another blog post that says the exact same thing that a thousand other blogs say than you are not giving Google any reason to rank it.

Consistency is key. If you are consistent with your blog posts you will win eventually. So yes blogging works as long as you're consistent.
