I'm curious if whether backlinking externally has an seo effect on Youtube videos when it comes to Youtube's search, not Google.

Please do not guess, I'm looking for answers from personal experiences or knowledge.

Honestly, I've been backlinking my Youtube videos manually creating HQ links from authority and relevant sites without any seo effect.
Maybe I'm doing it wrong? or possible it just doesn't help when it comes to Youtube's search engine.

Some say this when linking to a Youtube video: They are links to a spot in cyberspace, hence the ?= in the url and a
creating of the youtube page it is shown on is done on the fly. A "backlink" to a youtube video is really a backlink to youtube.
Is this true? If so:

Do you link to your channel? or do u link to an page with ur video embeded?

Thanks.

To rank on Youtube Search, You need Views, Likes, Comments(Better Engagement). Backlinks are if you want to rank in Google. Few Backlinks for youtube Search will not hurt though.

Once you rank the video (in Google) you'll get organic views. These views (and possibly likes, comments and subscribers) will rank your video higher in the YouTube Search.

And for this you'll have to optimize the video description. And you'll link to the video url. Example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9bZkp7q19f0

Embedding the video also seem to have advantages, although they are not as big as good backlinks.

From my experience on youtube search, backlinks does have have an effect on the rankings, but only very light. Your other factors must add up to rank.

If you ask about the backlinking from comment posting on YT then yes it works.

Backlinnks works only to rank on Google. To rank on YouTube, you need likes, views and subscribes ;)

Yes, backlinks helps YT vids but not as much as likes, views and subs will do.

Embedding vids while backlinking is really a good option to drive more traffic.

I have ranked videos within Youtube and in Google search as well using copious amounts of backlinks, high retention views and likes. Backlinks do work to rank a video within Youtube search IMHO. Some people also use PBN links to rank youtube videos. What I have seen work is hitting those videos with 1000s of links - not just a few high quality links.

I would suggest do your own tests. Create some videos you do not care about and blast them with 1000s of links, high retention views and likes.

As mentioned above, backlinking only works for Google's search results, not YouTubes.

What you really need to rank on YouTube is a high viewer retention rate. Basically, the higher total watchtime your video has the better you rank (though this generally doesn't take affect until about a week after your upload so that small channels have a chance to compete with big channels).

Hope this helps.
