So by saying that you mean there is no viruses for linux? Linux is as much vulnerable as windows. I would even say that windows as a platform is even safer.

It's not about which platform is more secured, but rather which target is more lucrative to hackers. Most peoples use windows so most hackers make windows virus & malware, that's why linux plateforms are rather safe.

There is a 1000% less chance to catch a virus on linux, it's even stupid to say that windows is safer since most of the apps you need on Linux are downloaded from their main sources. The effort it takes for hackers to attack a linux based pc is far from worth it.

It's safer because is far far less used, but it's not safer software wise.

80% of worlds servers runs Linux, maybe even more than 80%, so you mean Linux is not worth attacking?

The same applies to windows, you download all apps from their main sources, and if you don't hope you understand that it's your fault, that you got virus and not windows? New linux users blyndly installing everything with simple copy paste from guides on google, without even knowing what means what, and from what repositories they downloading anything, they don't even watch what repositories they add, because they don't even understand it.

used ubuntu long time ago, now running centos on servers, and using opensuse on my work machine.

Not currently. But really enjoyed my previous experience with it. Very user friendly making it good for Linux newbies. Looks decent and runs most software without any tinkering.
 
i was thinking of grabbing ubuntu for virtualbox instead of getting a virus looking for windows. what are your thoughts?
 
cool for somereason I dont why I think ubuntu sets off red flags for our field account creation , posting etc
