It depends on how targeted are ur visiters and ur landing page optimization. It has very little to do with source of traffic (ofcourse organic traffic converts better than remaining traffic). Amazon, ebay receives lot of direct traffic and they do convert because they're targetted.
Direct traffic from where? FB ads? PPC? Youtube?
Are you driving people to an eCommerce site? Are you selling a tangible product or info?
Amazon and ebay already have a brand built, so buyers have less skepticism. You don't overcome skepticism with low prices.

Yes, I know 1 person within my circle who does pretty well with redirect domain traffic.
