Do you think Billionaires should exist?

I really don't care about the Bill Gates, there are much more wise men to learn from,
such Steve Jobs or Warren Buffett and many others who became the billionaires from the scratch.

And also I don't see any reason to be even a little angry here - just great entertainment :)
It's all the truth about null ideas of Bill Gates - as I see it was something new for you about your hero and whole MS.

Only who can feel the shame here is exactly the Bill Gates. Fools hire fools.
Learn more about the previous director of MS - Steve Ballmer :D

Mr. Ballmer then said: ‘Fucking Eric Schmidt is a fucking pussy. I’m going to fucking bury that guy, I have done it before, and I will do it again. I’m going to fucking kill Google.’

Hahaha, what a incredible primitive man :D

Cheers, Greg.

And what happens when you go from millions to billions. Does it lead to peace and satisfaction?

http://www.nytimes.com/2019/10/17/style/rich-people-things.html
If he/she is into some bussiness then yes

Is he/she is a politician then NO

why not. to me billionaires are poof of concept. don't hate the player hate the game. i find this article informative https://www.independent.co.uk/money/is-having-individual-billionaires-good-or-bad-for-a-countrys-economy-10467258.html

Warren Buffet was not entirely self made, his father was a 4 term congressman who was himself an investor and a businessman.
Warren Buffet not become the billionaire for the reason of his father but for his knowledge about investing.

There are many of billionaires who was born in really poor family in poor country,
for example:

Cao Dewang - CHINA - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cao_Dewang
N. R. Narayana Murthy - INDIA - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N._R._Narayana_Murthy
Mohed Altrad - SYRIA - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mohed_Altrad

Then compare them to others who live in west countries but aren't able even to earn few thousands $$ monthly.
And please keep in mind, that we talking about the billionaires - not a millionaires.

You should earn 1 million $$ monthly to become the billionaire after near 100 years.
Or 1 million $$ annually to become the billionaire after 1,000 years.

This is the huge difference.

Cheers, Greg.

If his father had never opened a brokerage firm he would haven't been exposed to investing at such a young age.

my argument for the "NO" would be: 1) resources are limited. if 1 person has 100 times more money that what he can use in his life, thats 100 persons living in poverty unnecesarily. i would like to see a world where people are born with their basic necessities covered, so that they can grow in whatever they want to. yes, even at the expenses of the existence of a few lucky billonaires. 2) IMO, no human can be worth that much. plain and simple.

The vast majority of the wealth comes in the form of stock.

If I create a start up and sell 5% of the stock for $25 million my net-worth would then be $475 million, if in a year there is another purchase but this time its 10% of the company for $150 million. My net worth would then be $1.275 billion, but it is new wealth that is created that is not depriving the less fortunate of anything.

well, i am not an economist, so my outlook may seem simplistic. but there is a limited amount of resources available, with a little more being produced every day. those resources are mostly bought with money. in such a setting, if there is both a small group with more money that they can use in a lifetime, and billions dying from hunger and sickness, i believe that something is very wrong, independently of how those billionaires did that money. and i think selling a part of your start up is a process with lots of implications and mobile parts, to which "new wealth" may not be a totally correct label. but may english is definitely not good enought to get into that discusion haha

It's not like all their money can be given away, they're mostly billionaires in terms of assets, if all the billionaires started trying to cash out their shares then the economy would crash big time and a large chunk of that 'money' wouldn't even exist anymore.

They make their billions by making life changing products and services so they deserve it. I didn't help them so I don't deserve anything from them or get to say whether or not they need it.

Never watch someone else's riches, focus on yourself and never get jealous because you weren't there when they were working hard for it.

We dont need less billionaires, we need more! Jeff Bezos has created more jobs and economic value than any government program ever will.

A man with a billion dollars will find ways to multiply it, a government with a billion dollars will spend it until it's done. I would rather that man keep his billions and create products that better the lives of millions for years to come.

As they say "capitalism isn't the best way to run a society but it is the best out of all the options we have". We've given socialism, communism, facism etc a fair try and a capitalist society with free markets and least possible amount of government intervention is the best solution we came up with.

In a capitalist society, billionaires are inevitable. They will exist whether u like it or not and IMO they should too. Big business risks require people with big fat wallets. A lot of the large tech companies that you so admire today were making huge losses for years, being bank-rolled by banks and the ultra rich.

Having said that, these ultra rich should be held more accountable in terms of their investment. Banks casually give them millions in loans and keep bailing them out as their business ventures fail. That puts a lot of strain on the economy. In other words, the main critique of capitalism which has been put in many different ways by many different thinkers is that: it makes the rich richer and poor poorer.

That's never gonna happen, The nature of Humans is to exploit anything and everything, we exploit the nature animals anything weaker than us we even exploit microorganism to make medicine from them, you can't deny millions of years of evolution coz some people fell things will work out for the better, without the rich and without their massive co. we won't have innovation new breakthroughs nothing, everything you use now has been the results of the people who have the drive and work hard to make the money the explosion of technology in the last 50 years is nothing short of a miracle, and because of the incentive of money we will see more of this tech in every field from luxury to medicine to comfort or making food. let's take an example of the smartphone you have in your hand, it is one of the most important inventions in the history of mankind, you have unlimited access to all the information from any part of the world/time look at what it can do from social interaction to learning to grow your knowledge to entrainment to contacting anyone at any part of the world, access to information, able to organize for events or protest and many more and that's all because people wanted to make money, Make no mistake this innovation would never have happened if it wasn't for Capitalism and the greed of people to make money,

My sentiments exactly. I love the idealism of Gene Roddenberry's vision of his Utopian Star Trek future....but I always questioned it because I knew that human nature could never allow us to get to that point, unless they figure out how to get rid of the genes that cause us to do make mistakes and do evil things....maybe that is not even a "genes" thing but more of a "soul" thing....hehe, bet they can't map the human soul like they can the human genome.

A billion is hard to spend... Better give some millions to charity or homeless because that's too much money for only one person. Nobody should have so much money that's ridiculous.
even when they worked for it?

The only thing ridiculous here is you having this kind of belief.

Soon it'll be narrowed down to millionaires and further... And boom we'll all be poor you know.

No matter what you think, do or want... there will always be poor people.

Some people like to be given free handouts. They want to have everything for free. Give them food today they will want that to continue for the rest of their lives. Others don't have the zeal and/or will to work harder to earn more. They just want enough to feed themselves.

Most people who champion these funny opinions all have one thing in common; they're hypocrites. In my opinion.

How many of them are willing to give away all their wealth to poor people? give every fucking thing leaving only the ones enough for them to feed and take care of simple things such as transportation.

Many of them also have this political background or are trying to win the support of some crazy group of people.

Nobody should have money from illegal dealings, be it big or small money. But if you worked hard for the money, why are we having this discussion?

Most people can't work as much as Elon Musk does but they don't want someone lile him to have the wealth they worked for. That in itself is demanding for more than you deserve.

'Billionaires' are just something to fade your eyes.

Real players are the ones that control the whole world and the ones that created the system and the world we live in today aka the owners of Federal Reserves. They control everything in this world and have all the money of this world, way more than all of the billionaires together will ever have. Try to live off the system as much as possible.

But let's see this world go to a "no money" system where money no longer exists and everyone just contributes out of the goodness of their hearts and altruism. Let's see how that works. The result will be the answers to all the questions about this.

To be frank, this won't work. People are not angels. they're not inclined to do the right thing. Some just want to cheat and get what they don't deserve.

I cringe each time I see questions like this or a variation of this. It's so bad seeing that the society and people generally are gradually thinking towards this direction, it says a lot about our moral standing.

It should vary, a good idea would be to tax them higher unless they're doing good for civilization.

For example:

- bill Gates cures diseases. So his cost to do that should come off the additional tax greedy billionaires would get. And if he spends too much curing them, it should become a credit.

- Elon Musk is transforming energy, transportation, and space exploration, so he would also get the credits/tax deductions

- etc.

- But let's say there's billionaires just hoarding money, not helping anybody. I think their taxes should be higher, and the people should vote where those taxes go (schools, roads, medicine, less tax on the less fortunate, etc.), And things should be more transparent

I think your argument suggests, these wealth possessed by the billionaires were somehow taken from others(poor people as the case may be)...
I think that's false.

Nobody has the right to decide what others should do with their money or not. It makes no sense at all.
While people should be charitable and have the compassion for fellow humans, it makes no sense demanding it from them, if it were easy you should have acquired such wealth yourself and dish it out how you like.

Most of these billionaires created something inexistent prior to theit time or improved on an already existing system. Then charge a fee for making use of it or outrightly sell it. It's not like they took the money from others as your argument supposes.

IMO most of the billionaires wasn't even thinking of billions when they firstly started.
Think about Amancio Ortega (Zara Clothing), Howard Schultz (Starbucks) and some others. These guys started from nothing. They were trying to make money to support their families. They never thought of billions. Look at them now. They are on top 100 now.
After a certain amount I think this guys do their daily routine and money comes it self.

Excluded are those guys that were born on multi-millionaire families. Most of their wealth is inherited from their family and these guys want to do billions so they can prove themselves they are worth lol. And yes, they have made billions.

Edit: I forgot to answer the question. :D
If their wealth is legit and not dirty money (like George Soros and some Russian Billionaires) its Ok to have Billionaires.
