Find the competitor's links, whois info and so on, but spam comments are 100% useless.

SB used to work wonders when it first came out of the box a decade back. But very quickly, google adapted to this, and the links became worthless - at least when you spam badly that does not provide any value. Still, AA blog comments can still be used to index a site though, but not entirely as good as contextual links. But when it comes to ranking top-10, I doubt it can do the job.
