Do you really need people in your life?

Maybe it is possible...

However there are adverse side effects to most extremes. No sex, too much sex, no friends, a thousand "friends"...
To each his own, and good luck. May you find happiness on your way to being happy.

Funny though Eliaz, we rely on "friends" to learn and share throughout our life much of the time- Perhaps because we don't have a definitive handbook for how to live life. So here you are for instance deciding you want or need to get some opinions from the COMMUNITY about how you feel personally at this moment and your notions and questions about the possibilities of how to live your life... Probably you will feel differently at different times through your life, and it might be nice to be able to share with strangers, yourself, close friends, and family alike.

Imho, be the best person you can be, and if you are figuring out what that even means to you, think about what you would like it to mean to various other people who you know, and see if it includes being a good, considerate friend ... If it does, maybe consider being a good friend to them too.

If not, oh well! =)

I have to disagree with many people here, family sure if they are nice, but mine always yelled and crap, friends sure, I maybe have 2 or 3 that I consider real friends, and we usually chat via facebook, because 2 are really busy, and the 3rd is in Serbia, while I live in US, I don't like all the fakes etc, I mentioned in another thread that my dream after graduation is to make enough money to travel around the world, and many live somewhere else, :) I am not a club and partying kinda guy, Do what ever makes you happy my friend, :)

I prefer my own company, always have. I want to make enough money so I can travel around the world alone. I don't need people to share the things I will see and do in my travels when they will be in my own mind.

In most cases it will only take a generation to forget about you when you die unless you were famous like Einstein. So do what you want to do, not what other people want you to do. Never understood the partying and drinking culture myself.

Of course I have 1 or 2 friends that I consider true friends and my family have been great to me, but outside that I believe I can and will get by perfectly fine.

I prefer to be alone, personally, but you have to be good toward your community...your country, etc..etc...

Are you in high school ("Bffs"? I never heard anyone except young girls use that term, no offense meant)? If so, I think your perspective will change once you get out of it. The beautiful thing about democracy is that you can vote with your feet. I hardly see anyone I dislike nowadays and the people around me are all nice for the most part... Good people that motivate me to reach my goals.

Other people can definetely be a huge burden. Some people all they want to do is drink, and do petty crime. They're corrupt to the core and extremely dishonest. Others are simply bums.Bernard Hopkins left a life of crime, and said he was a loner for 2 years.

Loneliness can have its rewards. there is nothing sweeter then the intrinsic feeling of accomplishment after a hard-won victory. Self-inquiry is the reward of loneliness. I think you discover who you are, what you want, etc. If that's the case, best of luck to you.

But if you just want to be lonely to be a hippie or watch porn, then no, it's totally counter-productive,lol.

Life is better when we can share our happiness with other people. :-)

There's moment when you need to be alone. But to be alone forever? Nobody wants that. Let say if you do able to live alone, then when you die you still need other people to buried you.

Several months ago i made an experiment of my own.
I have been living alone for ~3(to be precise 10 weeks) months with almost no social contacts, including skype, facebook etc.
My communications to the outside world were only to talk business. All i did was work, work, work, work.
Don't get me wrong it was great... but after 10 weeks of isolation i returned to my home town and went to a party with my friends. It was one of the best moments in my life.
