I mean, whats all the trouble with getting friends and "bff's" cant you just live your life by yourself and be happy? I dream about to travel around the world searching, and experiencing new things. But do you really need friends to do this? Does really one man needs companion to be happy? Cant he find happiness by himself and truly learn to be happy just by himself and with no other one around oneself? Sometimes i feel that the loneliness are the best times in my life, is there anyone else feeling like this? :)

I think it is important to be comfortable and confident enough to be on your own, but I can tell you that the greatest experiences I have ever had came with people who I was close to and cared about.

I hear ya, man. I often feel the same, like I really don't need anyone around me. It looks like communicating with people is too much time and energy demanding, and it's just not worth it sometimes.
What bothers me is that a lot of people are starting to be really demanding, especially when you make some closer connections.
A lot of people think that I'm a nice guy and love to hang out with me, but they just start asking for too much from me with time.
It does look like living on your own is much better solution sometimes :)

Sure it'll make you happy, but not happy like having someone to laugh with.

the older I get the less friends I have.

I get that same feeling but sometimes it is cool to have someone you can really express yourself to someone you care about and that cares about you.

You should try being a business owner in a small town. I became a hermit years ago because I got tired of everywhere I went people trying to leech onto me. At first you're flattered everyone seems to love you but then reality hits you up side the head to let you know everyone loves what you know and what you're willing to do for the sake of "friendship". Fuk em all. I got a wonderful woman that I wouldn't trade for the world and the rest of the world can kiss my ass. She's my gatekeeper at the store and I like it like that. She and the clerks handle the customers at the store and I run the backend with the techs and keeping the books. A two person team is all you need IMO. Nice to have someone to share all the shit with. Not sure if I'd want to go back to doing everything alone.

It seems that the most answers you have is to have someone to express yourself around. Well, do you really have to express yourself with words? Everything is energy and you can put that energy to something else, like paiting or working so that you have to express youself is really not a reason to be with someone else, its just a demand we have. You can put that energy in something else, i really do belive that we dont need friendship in this life, i know about love and caring we can have people that we love and care about but that doesnt mean that we need to spend time with those everyday, I think that man himself creates the world around him as he likes it to be, so be whoever you are now and be whoever you want to be. :)

I guess you could and still be happy, but personally I'd like someone to be with the rest of my life to share the happiness and add to it as well. My girlfriend (soon to be wife) is a huge part of my motivation, and I am most definitely happier with her than without her. So, I guess it's just personal preference. I don't think you're weaker either way, just a personal preference. :)

It's your life, it's your choice, if you feel happy alone so be it. I personally want someone by my side.

In terms of business, no friends, no business. Simple as that.

I believe one needs to be a strong personality with a special relationship to either nature, god or himself to be able to fully enjoy life without any companions...

I have this kind of a relation to the world, but prefer to spend at least some of my time with other people I have similarly nice relationship to :).

It is one of the most important things in life to have only one person that you can call 3:00am when you are suffering and versa vice. Life is worthless without such a friend.

@BlueZero, crazy I came here to post the EXACT same thing when I read the thread title. I think about that quote A LOT it seems like as I get older. As I head into my late 20s, I find this to be more true than ever. Quality over quantity though of course.

The human body is meant to have connection to other people..
There are adverse side effects to no friendships if you wish to believe it or not...
even if they are subtle

Go ahead, knock yourself out...
