I want to know is when you launch a new website,

Do you complete some work before on localhost and upload the site or

do a fresh wp install on hosting and go from there ?

is their any SEO benefit from uploading a somewhat complete website ?

thanks

I personally like to work on the website straight away.

New regular content is what engines like.

If I want to delay something or do it in bulk I just use drafts.

strait on server.... you can password protect the pages that you are working on until it is ready for prime time.

gone are the old days, of creating local pages and migrating to production server

You can also do all of the settings to 'not index', dont ping search engines, and of course simple pw protect the site through htaccess.
Then when you are ready schedule the postings, add the site to analytics, give google and co all the signals "new site to go" and publish your posts - this time with "ping" etc.

you can work on a local host webserver to do all the stuff but I find it is easier to do it online.I also use my default plugins in a folder which I batchupload to the new site and then set them up. You can also if you want export the content from local to a new site but again - usually it is too much hassle.

remember that new sites do not have visitors out of the blue. You have a bit of time to set it up correctly.

Thanks for the advices/

Yes. you are correct. it's easier to do it online.

I use https://en-gb.wordpress.org/plugins/minimal-coming-soon-maintenance-mode/ (not in any way affiliated)

Gives G a chance to find your URL. You can customize keywords title etc.

Whan activated only you can see the site.

Interesting plugin. Thanks I will use that.

Do I need to buy the pro version to add kws ?

may be i won't need pro features as I'm a beginner.

I use free. It's got all you need.

It depends of your demand or your client needs.

It will be easy for you to work on the server-side direct.
You can create a SAMPLE 'The website is under progress' page as index page and you can create and develop the others without people (visitors) seeing it.
After each day you can insert a new page as an INDEX page.

Sure you can,
if you want to export the content from local to new site.

Best is to work directly on server-side as it makes it easy to work and comes handy, and you can view the results straight away. Gone are the days when you create sites on local host and then upload it on server.
