Ok so I am trying out a new method with using texts from a prepaid cellphone...if I post a listing on CL for like an ipad I am trying to sell and leave a number. So when I respond and tell them it is already sold but text them back my site...do I need to worry about cloaking or blanking the referrer?

I figure they will type in my site's address but if it is a smart phone they will go straight there by clicking on the link from the text message.

So if they go to the link directly from the text when they have a smart phone do I need to blank the referrer? Like will the network be able to tell it the conversion/lead came from craigslist if the person goes straight to the link from a text? I don't really know I don't have a smart phone and never tried the CL marketing thing.

Please anyone help me out with insight. Thanks

Only been 42mins but I hope somebody can help me out...I am anxiously waiting for an explanation.

It will more than likely show as a direct link, with no referrer.
Why not just install some tracking software on your domain and test?

Does anyone have any further insight...so would this be a blank referrer?

I would always fake the referrer in this situation just in case, using Brad's CPA redirector, eg.

You text them "go to myipaddomain.info"

myipaddomain.info redirects to myredirectdomain.info/index.php?mn=123456

which fakes the referrer to myredirectdomain.info/index.php, which just has a nice full page ad on it if your affiliate manager looks at the page without the magic number (mn=123456), and then redirects to the offer.

That way you're safe regardless of what platform the surfer is on. Blank referrers are a big red flag - you're better off faking to a full page ad, that way you can claim the traffic is from whatever source you want.
