Do Hashtags still matter on TikTok?

Yes, but I assume it's more for users looking through hashtags or similarly hastagged content. It definitely helps you appear in the radar, but what would actually push your content to such users would be how well your upload was doing anyway in terms of view count and watch time. Hashtag's a part of being seen but consider it a rather small part.

I tested both way on my pages. Hashtags help little bit, but content quality still make bigger difference for me
 
Nah, good content and quality is the king, a lot of posts not even using any hastags or just random hastags getting fyp and million views.

In my opinion they only serve to put your content into a certain category/niche. They don't help with reach with any way whatsoever. Content quality matters more as you've said yourself.
 
hashtags give me extra reach, but honestly most of the my views come from strong content not tags.
 
Hashtags still help for category, but I don’t think they decide reach much now. In my experience, TikTok pushes videos based more on watch time and engagement.

I would say Algos are way more powerful in categorizing rather than using hashtag, tiktok knows how much attention you're giving to certain subject or category and it keeps feeding you similar videos, social media's companies goal is to keep the end user on the wheel, to keep scrolling and stay engaged, they will use all the tools they have in order to achieve that, not only hastags
 
From my testing content quality and retention matter much more than hashtags now I still use a few relevant hashtags to help TikTok understand the topic but they rarely make a weak video perform better on their own
 
Yes hashtags helps a lot to categorize your video reach, but more important thing is also your video quality,and your content value

First content quality matters than hashtags. Try to use relevant hashtags and caption to get more engagement. Never compromise content quality
 
I usually just use a few relevant hashtags. Content quality hooks watch time and engagement seem to matter more. From what I've hashtags still help a bit with categorization on TikTok but they're not the main growth factor.

they do but if you try to spam irrelevant hashtags, it seems to lower the each of the video. Stick to one or two of the top hashtags to make the most of them
