Do Hashtags still matter on TikTok?

Have hashtags made a noticeable difference in your reach recently or do you think content quality matters more ?

From my recent tes, strong videos outperform hashtag tricks. I still use a few relevant hashtags, but watch time and shares seem to influence reach tsmuch more.

Yes , hashtags still matter on tiktok, but they are not as powerful as they were a few years ago. the algo relies more on video content watch time and engagement signals now.

Hashtags can be a contributing factor to increase reach and make your content discoverable. Major play is about the content only. If you want to target any specific niche or business, relevant hashtags can give you some positive movement. But if your content is not strong enough, hashtag strategy will fail.

Content quality matters more 100%. No matter what hashtags you put people will not watch your videos if they are not interesting, well edited and with a good hook. That said I still use hashtags every time, because I don't see any harm in doing so, and at the very least they help for categorization, especially with more niche content.

According to me, hashtags helps in discovery but content quality matters much more than hashtags. We all know that a good video can perform well with hashtags but only the hashtags can not save the video.

they still have a use case but not for "reach" in the traditional sense. its more about seo and search intent now. if you target search terms with your hashtags you can siphon some decent traffic, especially on tiktok since people use it like google now. but for viral main feed reach? nah, watch time and retention run the show. i just throw in 2 or 3 highly targeted ones to help the algorithm bucket the post on fresh accounts and thats it. if the account already has high authority they barely matter.
