Hi

I have checked my competition on Google and found out that 99% of their links come from linkfarms. However, obviously it works since they are on the first page.

This makes me think that Google and all the SEO-gurus are exaggerating when it comes to Google and penalties.

What is your experience here on the forum? Do traditional methods like private link wheels for example still work? Can you reach a top position with these methods today in the year 2016?

If blackhat didn't work then Google wouldn't need to hire people to give out manual penalties. Its an arms race in blackhat... some of the time you win and some of the time you lose. This is different from white hat where Google dicks you over constantly for ad revenue. Take your pick. :-)

there hasn't been a big penalty in a while and people forget. Wait till you spend years working on a site only to have it hit be unrecoverable penalty. Sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't. Honestly, I think it's more luck than skill at this point. you never know who could turn you in, but Google does read the manual spam submissions that random people submit and they do act on them.

What makes black hat SEO always relevant is it blackhat SEO always test and challenges the current algorithms to achieve better engines. Which I think win win situation on both sides.

Honestly natural links are very valuable than link spam.

However, link spam will quickly bring in money, and then die.

It is your choice.

I go straight to a lot of spam links, and making money fast

Come on man.. These type of threads need to be stopped. We have a whole secton of "Black Hat SEO" on this forum and is probably, one of the most active section and still you are asking if it works or not.

Yes it works.

Personally I choose blackhat every day of the week. However, I guess it's more about "flying under the radar" today. Obviously googles programs is not really good at detecting cheating, but their spam-team is.

YES of course, black hat SEO does certainly still work in 2016. The simple fact is as long as Google works on a computer algorithm. While search engines like Google have made it difficult to game their algorithm, black hat methods do still work anywhere for a long time.

Hi

This makes me think that Google and all the SEO-gurus are exaggerating when it comes to Google and penalties.

Absolutely correct.

Google care about 2 things making money from AdWords and providing the best possible organic results for their users.

"SEO gurus" that exaggerate and claim writing great content is enough, are generally those that like sitting on the 5th page.

Why don't you test yourself? Only sure fire way to answer your question.

Black hat seo will work for every but you need just found other way to do him because google will fast catch your metode.

Yes, probably have to work. but you have to remains upto date about black hat seo!

Yes it does work. yet for a long term run, Google may / will track you, find you and will ban you. lol :D

Oh, yeah, it works. doesn't make for much building of trust, but it works. it's even better when paired with stuff like paid traffic ultimatewebtraffic or fiverr, or paid backlinks. you'll get caught eventually, but you can just make sure you're ahead of the game by then...

SEO is a bit like investing money. If you are willing to take higher risks, you'll often see higher returns, but you may lose your money quicker, too.

I think it is the same as it has always been: it works until you get caught.

Seems like the most successful people are using blackhat techniques with completely white hat quality. Still building links... just not as many shitty ones. If they are building shit links, it is tier 3 or 4.
