Just had my first dispute as a seller on eBay, and wanted to get some feedback from you guys.

Sold some perfume, but accidentally sent the wrong one to the buyer. Anyways, they filed a dispute and PayPal, and I refunded them just now. I also sent them a note saying that they could keep the item I had sent for free (just as a gift since I had messed up).

I think I got lucky this time, cause I had a look through the buyers purchases and it seems like she never leaves feedback.

Anyways, have I gone about this the right way? Anything else I should do? After refunding her, shortly after I received an email saying that she had "closed this dispute".

i think it was a good move. What i would have done differently is told them that they can keep the perfume as long in return for good feedback. I think that is a very fair thing to ask for, and so should your customer
 
That was a good decision to give a freebie. Paypal automatically closes the dispute when refund is made so it wasn't the client closing it.
 
eBay became a nuisance when they decided that sellers only can leave postive feedback for buyers. This allows buyers to do what they want. Normally, if I make such a little mistake (you just sent the wrong item, which can happen) and then refund the buyer AND let him keep the wrong item for free, and I still have to live in fear that buyer might leave neg. feedback, I had to ask myself if I will continue to sell on and give my money (fees) to such a marketplace .....
 
Don't sweat the neg as it probably won't happen. Even if it does happen you have an option to request a revision.
 
Yeah you handled it fine. If she does leave neg feedback just get her contact info and call her on the phone. My experience with neg feedback is if I get the person on the phone 9 times out of 10 they will remove the feedback.
