Different results from keyword research tools

Hi guys,

I realize some keyword research tools give different search volumes. For example if I want to search "best dumbbell"...some tools like Ubersuggest will give me 12,100 search volume/month

and

Others like Serps and KWfinder will give 400 search volume. I also noticed that maybe KWfinder base on exact match results and others include long tail searches too?

So should I use this keyword if all tools give different volumes?

I tend to use Ahrefs and couple of other tools.

Different platforms look at different results using different APIs too.

Some show just country ( say USA ), others show global.

@dp40oz made a post a while back explaining how different tools show different results.

Adwords is the only approximate tool for Google search. Other tools simply estimate traffic based on their data which is usually limited compared to Google.

Well, basically, each tool is using its own formula taking into account different factors to determine search volume for keywords.
So, it's rather hard to say which tool to trust, taking into account that Google Keyword Planner will give you only ranges if you are not having an active AdWords campaign running.
Take a tool that you think is trusted, find out what factors are counted (if possible) and make your own conclusions.

Thanks for the response guys! I will use various tools and make sure the results are not too far off before deciding to use the keyword.

ANOTHER QUESTION - Do you guys consider "search results" that much? I typically look at search results with less than a million.
