Data Analysis Vs Web Development for remote work?

Hello Guys,
Long story short, I live in a third-world country and my full-time job salary isn't enough.
My goal is to learn a skill to support me with another full or part-time job remotely, Also, freelancing opportunities.
What would you choose between Data Analysis and web development to secure a remote job abroad?
Some Background:
- I can study for 30 Hrs/week.
- I need to do that in less than 6: 12 months.
- I have a mechanical degree and work in the oil & gas industry.
- My goal is to earn an extra 2000$ / month.
- I am familiar with HTML, CSS, and JAVASCRIPT.

Well if you are already familiar with HTML, CSS and JS, and given the the time constraints ("i need to do that in less than 6: 12 months") then i believe that web development is the way to go.

i would recommend to go with Data Analysis and Data Visualization , as there are alot of web developer already available in the market , if u want to kill the competition , go with low competition field , and data analysis and visualization is not that much hard, u just gota know the required tools and tips for that.

Data analysis would probably be your best bet in the current IM landscape.

Web developers are everywhere.

Agree with the others, web development has a lot of competition. Even I am a web developer lol.

Data analytics should be your choice.
And you will get into python for sure with this choice.
Python is diverse and has many use cases and web development is one of them too.

I have been working in Data for 10 years now, currently at a company on Wall St. in NYC. Data Analysis is not something that is usually outsourced. It's not development, the technical aspect is really only 15 - 20%, the rest of it is talking to people and understanding what they need/want. I would advise against Data Analysis if you are looking to be a freelancer. Data also has limitations because it is sensitive and companies don't want to share their data with someone overseas.

@zoldic I too am considering a career move to earn more income and the data analytics field has been a consideration. The data analytics is a field less crowded compared to web development, however DeadJoe brings up barrier to entry critical points regarding how sensitive data is to companies and the limited amount of outsourcing in the field.
All things considered, you could easily build your development skills, start doing some freelance work very quickly and then focus on working remotely in the development field with a larger company to make up for the income you're seeking. Wish you the best!

@DeadJoe Here on BHW I've noticed you post about working in data analysis before. I'm also in the US, considering furthering my education and a career in the data field with a MBA or training on my own.
I'd really enjoy a short Q & A chat regarding getting into the field at my age, and perhaps alternative ideas you may suggest. Would it be alright if I msg?

The need for web developers is robust and growing, driven by the increasing need for online presence and digital solutions. So, for me web development is much better.
