Do you own a website and have some traffic? You should make more money. It’s that simple.

‘But HOW?! I’m focusing 99% of my time and money to get MORE traffic! ONLY more traffic brings more money.’

WRONG! Small tests/adjustments on your site could bring higher CVR, CTR, .. = more money, money that can be used for your advertising/SEO budget, which brings more traffic, which (after few changes) converts better = more money ….. never-ending story.

What is conversion rate optimization (CRO)?
In internet marketing, conversion optimization, or conversion rate optimization (CRO) is a system for increasing the percentage of visitors to a website that converts into customers, or more generally, takes any desired action on a webpage. - Wikipedia

Bellow, you can find simple tips to improve your CVR, CTR, ...

#1 Improve your site speed

There is no need to address that pages with longer load time have higher bounce rates and lower average time on page. Page load speed is not only important for user experience but is also an important ranking factor.

Use page speed tools to check your site and find someone who can improve/fix basic problems with your site, images, minify CSS, HTML, ... You can easily find someone on Fiverr.

If you own a Shopify store, you’re a little bit limited, but you can:
1. Optimize images
2. Use Google tag manager for tags (for analytics code, FB pixel, …)
3. Choose a fast, responsive theme and optimize (less is more - remove carousel banners, replace background images with CSS, …)
4. Reduce the number of apps and delete inactive apps

#2 Heatmaps

Use HotJar (it's free) or any other tool for heatmaps. You will get a better understanding of how visitors use your site, what elements should be made clickable, can visitors identify CTA's, what is the biggest distraction on your website, ... Heatmaps are very useful for Adsense sites.

3.1 Landing/product page

CTA buttons
(Visitors who don’t click don’t convert.)
- Keep CTA buttons above the fold.
- Place your buttons where people click. (heatmaps can help you figure that out)
- Include multiple calls to action on a single page – Add a buy button bellow the description, …
- Best colors for buttons: red, green, orange. Maybe red button won't be the best fit for your shop/niche/service, but test it and see what happens. To get the most contrast, pick a complementary color: one that is opposite to your dominant/primary color.

(not my image, but is a good example)

- Test different call to action text. Use action oriented words.
(Great article about this topic on bufferapp -> 189 Powerful Words That Convert )

Images
- Use high-quality images - This is VERY important!!!
- Don’t use same images as XXX other dropshippers, Amazon/eBay sellers, ... If you dropship products, order a product and take some pics with your phone. Trust me, the reward will be amazing!
- Test different images - of the product, of the product being used, of happy customers holding the product, photos that will show the benefits of your product or service.

Testimonials
Add testimonials and reviews from happy customers to boost up your credibility.

Prices
- Test prices that end with a seven or a nine. Items with these prices tend to sell better than those with prices that end with a zero.
- Don't be afraid to increase prices!

Urgency (limited time) and Scarcity (limited supply)
Create a sense of urgency. You are probably familiar with Amazon’s ‘Order Before Date’ concept and Booking.com -> X rooms left.

Don't just focus on your front end. You can quickly boost your backend conversions as well.

Don't leave this page empty with just a thank you note. Be creative! They have their credit card in hand, think about how can they spend more money or get them to refer their friends.

- Include an upsell or limited time offer.
- Ask them to follow you on social media, share your site, share the product they bought, share a promo code with their friends, etc.
- Add links to your best content.
- Display testimonials.
