I am planning on making some additional videos on how-to get good on-page structure and must-have plugins for Joomla and appreciate feedback.

Can you explain the reasoning behind keeping every page above 500 words?
    Thanks

I have sites that are old and some have lost index/rank and not been updated over a long time. I have not had the same issues with pages that have a larger number of words which also equates to a larger number of n-grams in G's databases and indexes. It also does compel people to spend more time on page, which is one of my top 5 metrics to look at every day. Linking off to other sites and pages doesn't necessarily reduce time on page but content that is all above the fold almost always falls into the 1-2 minuite range. Much better to have 3+ mins and get the engagement factor kicked in vs the skimming factor.

Great video man. Ive been making sites for like 2 years now and was still unclear as to what h1, h2, etc tags were or why they were important.

So i still have a few questions after watching the video:

All things the same, would adding h1, h2, etc tags improve the ranking of your pages? Does it actually help with ranking or is just for making the pages look good? I havent used any for this one authority site im making and the pages have been ranking alright. As far as seo, i just have keywords in the title, in the post. I do use the 'bold'/strong font for titles in the posts but thats about it. No h1 tags.

And a question about the meta description. Your meta description in that post is, "create amazing tutorials and how-to videos etc etc"
And lets say someone is searching in google the phrase 'appeal to visual learners', which one of your h2 tags. This phrase won't show up in the meta description in google for your post since you have a fixed meta description ("create amazing tutorials and how-to videos etc etc"), right? And since its not in the meta description, the phrase won't be bold in the google search. Won't that phrase rank lower for that phrase since it isn't in the meta description? Also, won't that be a disadvantage to your blog because you won't phrase in the meta description and it will not be bold? What i'm saying is that your post may not catch the eye of the person searching for that phrase b/c it isn't in the meta description.

Anyhow, great video. Would like to see ur video on joomla or drupal too.

    Answered below:

    I recommend adding them as follows: count in {}

H1: {1} that is related to the page title tag and the url, you don't want to repeat these but rather digressing the keywords further into the topic with each.
H2: {2-4} these each talk about a main point from the opening paragraph. So 4-5 sentences letting the viewer know what they are about to read, an H2 heading for each. Again digressing the keywords.
H3: {at least 1} I use this usually for a "top 10 tips" ect. Hit the keyword in here without digressing it.
H4-H6: {only as style dictates} I would not worry about them if you don't see a reason for them to help guide your visitor.

Right and I keep every individual page to a single topic as best I can. If I wanted to have a page for [appeal to visual learners] I would make that a seperate page, however I might LINK to that page from that relevant text in the [create amazing tutorials] page. As well dont be afraid to link to some other site out there, its natural and should be done.

Yes it would, however again for separate kw I will write a new page. This also is VERY key to getting a good Quality Score in Adwords. Plus more unique pages, more authority :)

Hit sub on my YT channel, I had to travelto a different city but have clear schedule for tomorrow and will hit Joomla. I think I should also hit on relationship of adwords to Quality Score and URL/Meta/Page

What exactly is being bolded or underlined in the article content? the keywords you wish to rank for? if so, is it advisable to bold and underline them through out the entire article? and how many times should the actual keyword be mentioned?

So when it comes to the accessories like <B i u> I like to use them on the digression from keyword terms, like information that I am closely talking about that is important for the HUMAN reader. which will guide them to other important information on my page. Maybe 1 exact match + word I would <BIU>, maybe, if it looked good.

Not more then 1 EM keyword. Think more of googlebot as a picky english teacher rather a computer. That is very much what it is becoming with the new Graph/AI announcement and all.

BTW run a search for [how to write killer tutorials] from your local and let me know how it shows up for you. Not to say that is a good KW I am trying to capture lol, just checking its progress :)
