I feel like if your conversion rate is low, you're gonna be doing a lot of work for no monetary compensation (although you can include it in your portfolio)
In worst case scenario, you can ask them to pay for the domain price and get the website. That's simple. but remember that's the worst case scenario.Maybe you should build a website on some subdomain and ask them if they want to go ahead or something?
The domain will not have any value if they are not interested or for some reason, they don't need a website for their business
Even this rate is too highYes, If you create 10-15 websites, only 5-6 will be sold.
Yes, that makes sense.I believe the psychology behind this idea is in the willingness to buy the domain itself. Because anyone can create a website nowadays or can hire a freelancer and do it for $200 or less. And with the domain, there are a lot of extensions, and if .com is not available, I can get a .net or any other extension.
Yeh, very nice angle. If they are interested then you can find them domain.Maybe you should build a website on some subdomain and ask them if they want to go ahead or something?

Exactly how I imagined it would be. If they don't have a site in the first place, it is probably for good reason.Building sites for small local businesses was the 1st thing I tried after I got my degree many years ago. Some people literally wanted to pay pennies for my work, and some were very rude.
Anyway, I have seen people making decent cash doing this type of work, but definitely not for me, is just very slow. The revisions, the back and forth, then calling to get the money, etc. Too much friction.
