Hey guys, Im running ads for the crypto/finance FTD 250 euro vertical, and I was just wondering what is the correct way or correct setup to run them?
Im talking about setting up the correct audience with correct interests.
on the screenshot below are my settings, my theory that is this too broad, and people who might get interested in this dont see the ad.
What is the correct way to think of the interests?
any advices are welcome here, thank you for your time.

For finance and crypto, broad interests often waste budget. Focus on people already engaging with crypto content, trading apps, or specific coins. Layer interests with behaviors like investing or finance news readers, and test small segments to see what converts before scaling.

thx for input, do I just sit and think of all the relative interests that are touching with a sales funnel somehow?
more more specific interests = better?

25 – 45 (people with financial capacity & investment knowledge)
Cryptocurrency, Trading platform, Binance, eToro, Coinbase, Investing.com, MetaTrader, Forex Trading, Financial News, Day Trading, Stock market
People who regularly shop online, use credit cards, and interact highly with financial content
Prefer high-end devices (iPhone 13+, Samsung S21+), because they often have higher spending levels

A good approach is to test narrower audiences first and then expand gradually once you see performance. It’s usually about testing and balancing between precision and scale.

Narrow your crypto/finance ad targeting — focus on people who’ve engaged with cryptocurrency content, trading apps, or specific coins. Layer in behaviors like reading financial news, investing, or shopping online. Test small audiences first, then scale once you find what works.

Hi dimathecoolguy ,
Focus on a narrow, highly-targeted audience rather than broad interests. Use specific crypto or finance keywords, lookalike audiences of past converters, and test small variations to see what works best. Adjust based on performance data.

Broad finance = wasted clicks. Layer it with behaviors or LAL from real FTDs if you want deposits, not window shoppers

Crypto and finance audiences are often too broad and will spend money quickly without being effective. Try targeting the right people who have interacted with crypto content or trading apps, using lookalikes from people who have converted, and gradually test small groups before scaling.

Narrowing interests around finance trading and investment usually works better than broad targeting for crypto offers

When targeting finance/crypto, keep audiences focused on people who already show interest in investing, trading, fintech, or financial news. Avoid going too broad test narrower segments like people engaging with trading apps, investment communities, or financial education. Refine step by step and optimize based on actual performance data.

It usually works better to layer audiences or narrow down with behaviors + demographics (age, income, device, geo)

that is some high quality intel, thank you g

Standard setup = Indirect Target + Lookalike data + Small test + Slow scale + Creative rotation.

I'm also new to this so I don't know what the standard setup is yet, but I think that targeting too broadly is a waste. I should probably narrow it down to my preferences and then test it gradually to see the effectiveness.

Instead of narrowing your interests, let the algorithm learn from the data you feed in, it will be more stable and easier to scale.

It looks like your audience setup might indeed be too broad. When targeting finance or crypto, it’s usually better to layer interests more precisely rather than keeping everything general.

Facebook’s policies are very strict on crypto/finance offers, especially FTDs, so the “correct way” is less about interests and more about structure + compliance:
- Funnel first: Don’t send traffic directly to the offer. Use a pre-lander/educational page that builds trust before redirecting.
- Audience setup: Instead of narrow “crypto” interests (which are heavily flagged), test broader finance/investment/business interests and let Facebook’s algo optimize.
- Warm audiences: Retarget visitors, page engagers, and lookalikes of leads/depositors — these usually outperform cold interest targeting.
- Scaling: Start small with compliant creatives (educational/wealth themes, not “get rich”) and scale winners gradually.
