Hey everyone I thought I'd give an update (feel free to comment, all your opinions are welcome).

This past week has been very busy, I have been studying non stop for a midterm exam (as previously mentioned I am in an accelerated honors class in a botanical biology class). Anyways that is out of the way and I have come back to see I have a bunch of orders from different people. Looks like I'll be spending this weekend doing that :). The class I am taking ends on May 31st I believe (my final is on a saturday morning) after that I'll be looking to scale up my work big time. Saw some methods of making money on this site I am going to try to implement too.

Current Estimated Profit for the weekend: $50ish.

I have been reading through this thread and just thought I would say good luck and keep up the great work you are starting to make a nice income for yourself.

Summary: Today was a bit strange. I was offered one of my biggest jobs ever, would have paid around $500 USD. The buyer wanted me to write part of it for free as a sample before fully committing. I do not do free samples currently, my time is a bit precious and because of it I was told by the buyer that they would look for someone more experienced/someone who would do the free part. Honestly I am not phased at all about losing out as I was already giving a discount on how much I'd usually charge out of good faith. Good things come to those who wait I suppose!

On another note I wrote a method about how I get customers (this applies for any business) and I hope you guys check it out. It is in the money making forum.

Day Summary: As stated above I lost a $500 client yesterday as I stuck to my guns about not writing over a chapter of a book for free. As it turns out shortly after I was contacted by another buyer for a nice $45 order of authority content which I accepted. It looks like the buyer is looking for constant business. With great pay I believe I will make that $500 back much faster (I was giving a discount already) and have a lot of fun doing it :). I am so blessed to constantly have people come to me!

I am a few hundred short of a macbook pro currently but should make that in the next 4 weeks :).

I'd wager that the guy who contacted you was one of those "Write a chapter for free and I'll pay you" scammers. Very popular method to get a free ebook nowadays.

Well looks like I dodged a bullet, thank the lord :). Thanks for letting me know this I just figure everyone who wants to work with me is legit but will be more cautious in the future!
 
Update: I wrote an article for one of my newest buyers. Had a lot of fun doing it. Adding a skype to my username has gotten me lots of adds by people who either want a writer or just don't talk to me (I am assuming some if not all are BHW members as there names have stuff about selling products or services). Life is great and I am just having fun. Though I realize that my current monetary gains would never support the life I want to live. At times I wonder if I'll keep doing this after I become a medical doctor (god willing).
 
Good on you man, sounds like you're constantly improving. I also got my start in freelance writing, everyone thought I was crazy for writing articles for pennies on MTurks but I met a client who I clicked with and he taught me SEO and affil marketing and things have just gone crazy. So yeah basically just keep at it lol.

Oh yeah and a few things I did back when I was writing...
1. Took out an ad on WickedFire (I think it was $47) and built a little bit of a reputation. I was charging $10/500 words and getting a solid 5 articles a day. Not sure what the state of that forum is now though.

2. Get a list of the Alexa top million sites, start with mid-size sites probably around the 200,000 range and just email email email. Have a stock email but personalize it a bit.

3. Elance and odesk are just like online dating, it's all about the profile and not working for less than you're worth.

Update: I wrote some $20 articles today. I am done school next saturday until September, will be looking at marking up my current work rate exponentially once completed.

Thanks for the advice. In all honesty I am leaning on starting a marketplace thread once I can purchase VIP. First I'd like to have a steady HIGH income stream though as spending 130ish may not seem like much but until I am making enough to make that back in a few days or less I don't know if I'll be able to pay currently. Though i have a few hundred saved now.

I'll be looking to rank my own content soon enough. I just have to finish this accelerated summer class (done on Saturday).

Summary: Got hired to do what I understand is full time amazon reviews, pay is excellent and I enjoy writing detailed reviews. Looking forward to be done school this weekend (last class is tomorrow though) final Saturday!

Update: Not much done today, more studying then anything. I have a labratory exam tomorrow morning and then a final on saturday. Will be focusing on those for the next few days. Saturday afternoon and into the rest of the summer I am free to work a much heavier schedule!

Thank you all for reading this thread. Just writing it has made me inspired to see how far I came from the floors of Fiverr. Still a long way to go!
 
I finished my last exam this morning, a bit tired but I just wanted to say let the Summer of Hard Work begin!
 
Update: Currently I have made $28 today from writing (should be more but one user here decided not to pay me unfortunately after I helped them with there 11th grade physics homework hah).
 
Update: Made around 48 dollars today. Have a lot of writing to do now.

Update: Have been writing fevoriously today. Still about 4 more articles to finish but did about 9 today. Money is flowing very well as of late thankfully. I was also offered some full time work by two different buyers!

After two days of a lot of business I seem to be running slow again! Rather than wait for writing clients to come and do nothing in the mean time I think I'll be be starting an authority content site in some niche. It's about 6 am right now but I am up early and will be brain storming niche ideas. Hopefully by the end of the day I can have a website niche down and a plan to execute it. Also I do hope to get some more writing orders, if not I will probably contact old buyers to see if we can set something up :).
