Hi everyone, could you please advise me on where to start with email marketing?

I’ve been working with different mailers for a long time, either on a revenue share or a fixed-fee basis, but I’m already tired of chasing them, so I want to understand and handle all of this on my own.

During the time I worked with others, I realized that there are many different ways to send email campaigns, but I can’t figure out which of them actually delivers best to the inbox. Some guys were sending emails for free, others were using expensive AWS SES with limits up to 50k, and some were simply using SMTP Japan or MIX — but what should I choose? Please recommend something solid.

I’ve also read articles that explain in quite a lot of detail how two services work, but honestly, I still have a mess in my head. There are too many methods, and they differ both financially and in terms of results. I simply don’t have the time to test everything.

I’d really like to hear the opinion of professionals who have worked with all of this, know what can be discarded right away, and what’s actually worth focusing on and investing time into. Starting is the hardest part, and right now I feel completely lost. I’m used to working with a clear 1–2–3 process where everything then runs smoothly, but here everything feels too vague and messy.

Thanks in advance to everyone for your replies. I know this forum helps with questions like this, so I’m really hoping for your support.

Nowadays the technical part is more important than the marketing itself, being able to reach the inbox has become an art/science and without a good system it is very difficult to land in the inbox.

We could say that there are 3 big points to take into account:
1. Get to the inbox and not the spam box.
2. Let them open your email.
3. Make your email persuasive so that they do what you want/need.

1. Get to the inbox and not the spam box:
The most important thing is to keep your system and list as healthy as possible.

System:
-IP: If you can, use one (or maybe several if your list is huge) of your own that you do not share with others, that is not on any blacklist or has a high spam score. There are those who use different and they use Google Workspace and/or Microsoft 365 accounts with personalized domain as senders, here there are several possibilities, choose what your strategy and budget will be.
-Warm-up: Use a tool to warm up your sender, domain and IP before you start (1 month) sending your marketing emails and always keep it running while you launch your campaigns to continue creating positive signals for your sender, domain and IP.

List:
-Always clean/delete those who do not open the emails (after a period of time), there are those who believe that it is better to have a large list instead of a clean list. When you have a list with a high percentage of engagement, this creates good signals and helps reach the inbox, while if it is the opposite you get the opposite effect.

Recommendations:
-SPF, DKIM, DMARC: Add these DNS records to your domain, this is essential.
-Be careful with the words you use: there are words that are spam, search for lists on the internet and/or use tools that analyze each email before sending it.
-Verify each email address: it is advisable to verify that the email exists, is written correctly, it is not a spam trap/honeypot, etc... if you send an email to an account that does not exist it is a bounce, if you have many bounces it is a very big red flag, you have to be below 1% bounces.
-Start slowly: the domains, senders, IP, your message... have to warm up, start small and increase little by little, if you start quickly you will have a red flag.
-Create subdomains for the senders: one for marketing, another for payments... this way you spread the risk.

2. Let them open your email.
Marketing/copy comes into play here, nowadays you can ask AI to help you.
The important thing is the title. Always do split testing (A/B testing).

3. Make your email persuasive so that they do what you want/need.
Help yourself with AI to create good copy.
Always do split testing (A/B testing)

Nowadays, doing email marketing well is not easy due to the technical complexity, because ESPs and other actors are increasingly making it more difficult to pass their spam filters, which on the other hand is appreciated, because if it were not like that, imagine what our inboxes would be like today with the number of unscrupulous spammers there are.

The most difficult thing is to get past Microsoft's filters, but what really needs to be put more emphasis is on Gmail, since it is approximately three quarters of email clients.

It is possible that I have left some details unnamed, that there are things that can be done in one way or another, you have to try that and create something that works with your strategy, budget, etc...

I have given you a very, very solid foundation that any expert would have charged you $XK, so take advantage of it, if you need something more personalized you already have to hire an expert to set everything up for you, but with this and if you are looking for something you don't know, you can do email marketing professionally.

Hope this help.

Start simple with one SMTP and learn deliverability basics first.
Expensive tools don't fix bad setup or bad lists.

It's not as complicated as you seeing it
First one
Start with a 10k per day not too expensive email sending platform
Could be a few currently advertising thats all setup already
You only need to do some sending
And that's it
