Configuring Yoast plugin, is this normal?

I leaved meta description empty on my posts as it's shown on image below:

But when I open page source on my post there is meta tag "description" with the content.
Why is it there when I didn't filled up meta description box? I want google to get full content and choose the best part based on search query. Will it be in this case or google will consider only content from description tag?

I'm using Yoast SEO plugin v5.8

why dont you edit the meta description yourself? you can adjust what metas you want to be found in tools too

I want leave it to google to choose the best one based on user search query. I think in that case there should not be description tag? I'm I right?

don't think thats how it works its up to you to give the user experience and design the meta for what you want the visitor to see.
