Computer just cashed out. Should I get an iMac?

My comp is like 6 years old. I have always used windows but have been thinking of getting iMac since I have iPhone and iPad. Plus everyone I talk to that has them love them. are they worth it? 3k. Also are they good for IM?

No it's the desktop with everything built in monitor. I hate laptops.

That at was my thought...are u really limited with IM tools because of Mac? A lot of screencaps from the top guys are using macs....

You are an obvious apple fanboy, you don't need to make excuses.

If you like it take it, its that simple.
But price vise, hardware vise, etc apple is a ripoff. For that price you can buy a fucking beast.
 
All link building tools (Gsa, Scrapebox, Xrumer, Zennoposter and few others) are made for Windows, not for Mac.
If you want something nice on your desk go for mac.
If you want to run some tools on this - go for PC.
Btw - $1k is enough for good PC, for $2k you save you can rent 2 dedicated servers for a year.

Your not really limited. Just buy an 2gb ram VPS for running windows only stuff on it.

Or you could dual boot your mac or use an virtualbox

You are just describing what are the limitations lol

If you need to buy a VPS or run your tools with VB this is an oblivious limitation.
Why whuld you give a 3k for a pc that can't run the programs you need to do your job?

Thats true, just telling the possibilitys for him. I am not in need of an vps because I only code & design. Only reason I have a vps if for FollowLiker.

You could always dualboot your Mac If you really need windows software.

Gotta love these mac vs windows discussions
 
Why would anyone want to buy Apple PC when regular PC can everything that apple does and much more at the fraction of price.It's obviously for branding
Otherwise It's because of stupidity like that internet marketing flourishes

The people that love them aren't using much resource heavy program or if they are they haven't gone out and researched various parts for a DIY pc vs mac.

With a custom pc, you can spend more money in areas where you need faster speeds and less in areas that aren't needed so much.
 
i currently only have access to a mac and it gets pretty annoying not being able to use half the programs i would on my pc, and to top it all off macs have much less ram and memory compared to pcs of the same price

Jesus, for 3k you can get an INSANE PC. Like $750 into a processor, double brand new video cards, 32gb of RAM type of beast.
 
Wow im surprised the answers are so 1 sided. Is there any advantages that macs have? I could have sworn i seen a thread on here where at least some people were sayimg they were better...
 
$3,000 on a computer? Let's see what I could do with that instead of buying a Mac...

Of course, there's some other stuff you have to buy (nuts, bolts, wires, etcetera), shipping, and you'll still have to make sure all of those components fit together, but it's still better than buying a Mac.

Hold on, I'm not done with that list. I know I left out the HDD/SSD and the CPU (I'm looking for an SSD for myself right now while I look for one to post here).
