Christian bucks

Hey guys -

I will be launching a new site for Christians. I plan it to be a paid membership site. Non-paying members will be seeing ads.

Anybody have experience with this crowd? I am not a Christian (not a believer at all really) so I have no idea what Christians spend money online for.

It'd be great if you could tip me the, say:
-best Christian dating site to promote
-best Christian-geared CPA programs
-faith related Clickbank products that convert.
etc.

I am looking out for information myself too and will be updating this thread with my findings.

All ideas and discussion welcome.

A friend of mine used to run a christian mp3 site. Said it was great because christians didn't do any illegal downloading and nearly always paid for music.

Books are big sellers as well. Wesley Owen is one to look at if they dont have an affiliate program you could probably use Amazon.

Tell them they'll go to hell if they don't buy your products. Works for televangelists.

  • use Amazon (other ideas for faith-based bookstores with affiliate programs?)
• eBooks
  • almost all niches have their "Christian" counterparts on Clickbank.com. (Christian finance, Christian loans, saving your Christian marriage, sex for Christians etc.)
  • other than above, there are eBooks with themes of salvation, becoming God's masterpiece etc.
  • then there are specialty items like prayer books.
• e-learning
  • learn Hebrew
• dating offers
  • ChristianMingle.com, Christian Cafe etc. (If you'd like to share experience with specific networks, please do so.)

Marketing Insight

• Christians have tight groups
  • Deliver quality and they will pass it on.
    • make the means available so they do (eg. refer a friend)
  • Similarly, lack of quality or respect will hit back.
• Copywriting
  • It is a good idea to use language that engages Christians (use of words like integrity, honesty, fairness)

Hehe. Not sure if that would work with my site but that bring the topic of "how" to present your pricing. I was thinking earlier today if I should go with a "fee" or a "donation". It isn't like they choose to donate or not. They need to pay to get upgrades. Only, I would call it a donation for upgrade.

Because christians like to do things in an ethical way don't come across as trying to be sneeky. If there is a fee for membership, call it a fee but stress the value that they will receive. Make sure to use language that engages christians like "integrity" "honesty" "fairness" in your landing pages and post.

Check out offers for christians at offervault (dot) com using the key words christian, christians and church. I found quite a few offers on dating, payday loans, debt clearance. Once you sign up with the network offering the service you can ask your affiliate manager which ones convert best.

Regarding the televangelist quote - if you insult them they will NEVER come back to your site. You have to demonstrate respect for what they believe whether you agree or not and above all make sure your offers are quality offers. If a christian feels cheated not only will they never return but your site will be blacklisted among the circle of people whom they fellowship with. Last, because christians tend to do business within their core groups, put a refer a friend button.

There's a "Learn Hebrew, the original language of the Bible" offer over at Hydra I believe. No clue if it converts or not, though.

The real Christians will know that you're not one, but you should do real well with the deceived because they can't tell the difference between the true and the false. You've got a lot of competition out there. There are hundreds of so called Christian websites by non-Christians and they seem to do well.
