I am having an issue that people in China cannot see my website... I host with hostmonster currently, and am wondering if hosting it on a chinese server will solve this problem.

The site is new, and does not have a lot of content on it yet, but I have had problems with other sites as well not being accessible in China.

    Any thoughts???

As I understand things an enormous amount depends on the nature of your site, products, etc.

Briefly, sites may be unavailable for political reasons set by the Chinese government or for non-political technical reasons.

If your site says something like "Mao Sucks!" or "Go Joe Stalin!" it will be blocked no matter where you try to host it.

If you're pumping out ads for "XXX Elbonian virgin lesbian twins!" or viagra spam the Chinese will block it for other reasons, regardless of where it's hosted.

If you're not doing something to piss off the Chinese government or trigger their warning flags then Chinese hosting should solve your problems.

If it is shared hosting and many sites are hosted on the same server then if one site hosted on that server gets blocked, I bet they also block the server IP address.

That is my thought.... I guess I should just use my reseller account which has its own ip for the sites I want visible in China.
