[Case Study] Rank a Video On Google

Good luck OP! I have been trying to grind out an income by ranking videos on google for the past year. It has become much more difficult. I am trying new things everyday. Good luck with your journey!

I just purchased a link package centered around parasite sites from the marketplace. It is too early to report on the effectiveness but I will keep you updated.

OP - How different are you techniques to rank on YT vs G? Do they work together? In my case I am working 2 projects - 1 is pure whitehat. Ok, maybe not pure. The business is totally whitehat, but we'll use whatever techniques work that won't cause damage long term. With that one, we are looking for real YT subscribers, views, etc plus we want to drive traffic to the website. The other project is 100% on YT and we are earning income solely from YT. Same techniques?

Going through the same thing OP. Worked my way up to $200 day, it was easy as hell. I became complacent, then all the updates happened. At which point I went from, "I'm gonna be rich" to "what the fuck do I do now"? This past month though I decided "fuck it, I gotta get back in action". Only thing is I'll be focusing on other parasites and largely avoiding Youtube.

Why? Well, I did a test where I tracked 10,000 keywords for the last 10 months. I noticed on top of all the banning on YT, Google has also demoted roughly 68% of those 10,000 videos I was tracking. meaning they took roughly 6,800 videos from that sample pool OFF page 1.

And the ones that are still on page 1, many of them dropped down to 3,4 and below.

There still are videos in the top 3. But based on my data, risk vs reward, how G devalued YT videos.... I know I'll be better off focusing on other parasite platforms. That pool was basically ALL of the most profitable CB keywords. There's only 120 left ranking #1 and I just can't deal with numbers like that.

I know you're gonna run into a lot of bs. Way more keyword research. Substantially lower volume of viable video keywords. No boosting anymore cause every supplier I've used in the last 6 months has gotten my videos banned. But you sound smart so I don't wanna discourage you. I plan on making my own journey thread soon. Ranking facebook, topix, blogspot, etc. So if you ever wanna network/exchange ideas I'm down.

BreaknBrix, I know you from warriorforum and I know that you have great info/experience with YT + CB...

About the blue line... Can you please let us know how they were in top 3? I mean could you determine why YT preferred to keep those videos in the first page?

When trying to rank on Google one of the first things you need to do is first see if there is currently a video ranking on page 1 of Google. It is VERY hard and sometimes impossible to force your way on to the first page of Google especially in the certain niches you are in. Google pre-determines what keywords they want a YouTube video to be on the first page of. They do this to protect their users. They only want to return trusted content especially when it deals with medical or health related topics.
While even though you may be an expert in this field Google doesnt know that. They simply dont want people like me to rank a video on the first page and have no idea what I'm talking about when it is dealing with someones health. So they choose articles from webmd.com, mayoclinic.com, etc instead of somebodys random home video.

I've never done YT Markting before, but I'd like to learn... There's a lots of potential from YT, can't wait to see how this turns out.

Yep, basically what I was gonna say. Even 10 months ago Google prefered webmd, mayo, livestrong, etc over youtube. However, there was still thousands of viable video keywords you could target and rank #1. You could never rank for something like "cure diabetes" or "how to cure diabetes" (diabetes has serious health implications) but you >>could rank for other terms like, "how to cure herpes" or "how to cure tinnitus" etc. 10 months ago someone had #1 rankings for both those keywords. TODAY? They're nowhere on page 1. And this same exact pattern repeats for MOST niches. Not just health, but software, language, health, exercise, dating, money, music etc.

These days Google has done more of a "broad sweep" across most YT niches.

Like I said, keywords that are completely unrelated to health. And this is just my opinion, but the more recent sweep (it was less than 10 months ago), that was to stop YT spamming. It was to substantially REDUCE THE POOL of viable spam keywords. Not to preserve health keywords as those specific keywords were already preserved over 10 months ago.

I wish this was a private/Jr vip thread cause I'd post both my spreadsheets. Just to show how widespread this "sweep" was and how many different niches it impacted.

If you actually look at the data the only way to interpret it is, "Google said fuck you to 68% of YT spammers". Then they gave a "semi-fuck you" to 29%, and only left 3% of niches untouched.

I can't emphasize this enough but that's a 97% demotion of 10,000 YT keywords. Even though these were all the most popular Clickbank keywords, most of them could easily be cross monetized with other affiliate offers. So this wasn't an attack on CB video keywords. This was a full out attack on YT.

Here's more evidence. If you have a bot, or just manually search all the keywords that are left ranking in the top 3, you will notice more than 90% are over 6 months old.

In the past, you never saw that. You'd see videos there were 1,2 &3 months old. Spammers were consistently fighting each other and outranking with new videos. These days either you were grandfathered in (I have 11 primary keywords still in the top 3, all of them are between 10 months - 2 years old), or if you're new.... you're up shits creek without a paddle.

Like how is anyone on here gonna outrank a video I blasted with 250k HR views using viral socials 2 years ago? A lot of my "grandfathered" videos are like this. What are you gonna do? Pay YT for views? You'll go broke.

To sum up, I'm not saying "YT is dead". I'm just saying it's not for spammers anymore.

Just look at BHW. Where are all the "YT+CB+PPD+CPA+PPI" threads? A year ago I use to read this forum and see them everywhere. These days they're basically non-existent. So like I said, it's time to move on from YT and start spamming other parasites. I wish OP the best, I'd love to see someone kill it on YT these days. But I don't see that happening unless you go full whitehat and focus on building a brand.

So BreaknBrix, Good points all. As I posted earlier I am going grey: White hat company, white hat product, white video, but working some grey/black techniques and tools. I won't touch purchased views - way too risky at this point. Social is a maybe. So with that in mind, what techniques does anyone think still work to grow subscribers and views? Don't say, great content, customer interaction, etc. We're doing all of that big time. But so are other people. So, what techniques work to separate from the crowd. We're testing a few things, but haven't found anything that does exactly what we want. Love this thread. The YT game has changed - just trying to figure out how to get an unfair advantage that lasts.

Just one point Breaknbrix... I have saw a lot of threads in this forum and in other places that the people who come in claim that it is possibleto rank a YT video using:
1: Social signals (I am almost sure if you start a thread asking how to rank your YT video in google nowadays You'll get that response.)
2: Tier link building (After last YT updates I have read a few papers in this regard. they claim (and said that they have done it successfully!) that you can rank your video by creating several original web 2.0 articles as tier1 and then try to giving them tier2 and tier3 backlinks).

Can you please let me know your idea in this regard?

Your video can still get a lot of traffic from YT itself. From what I see, ranking within YT hasn't changed much, same old rules apply.
This is not the end of YT, but the end for spammers, I agree with that. And I'm very happy about it.
Today, ranking requires more cash to invest, so people will think twice and better go spam elsewhere.
