[Case Study] Rank a Video On Google

Thanks so much for such crazy positive feedback guys. I'm no where near an expert in this field, I just found a method that worked a few months ago that doesn't work anymore.

Why I'm Doing This
Im doing this because i havent done anything in the past year except fail miserably at previous projects and watch netflix. I had some personal mental barriers that were the main reason for not being able to work. Too many personal things on my mind. This thread is meant to keep me focused, accountable, and reliable for my goals. Also, I wanna give back to this amazing community. I wouldn't have seen such success without you guys. Thank you.

I receieved a few PM's from a few people asking a few questions about many things so I'm going to go into way to much detail explaining everything.

Why I'm Focusing On Google and Not Just Youtube
I've tried it both ways. Back about a year ago, I was ranked on google and youtube, driving 500+ unique visitors to my sites per day. UNREAL. After the update, I ranked videos on youtbe only. The traffic was so miniscule compared to what I had originally had. less than 10% of my traffic. Which leads me to my next point.

You also need to keep in mind that there are "Youtube" keywords and "Google" keywords. You need to put yourself in your target audiences' shoes.
Ex: If i (the customer) is looking to fix my eye problem online, I'm more likely to search for a cure on google. I'm looking for a quick solution for my problem. However, If I'm looking for a eye exercise to work on my eyes, I'd be more likely to search on youtube for a tutorial.

That was a horrible example, but the point I'm trying to address it that there are youtube keywords and then there are google keywords. Put yourself in yourself in your target audiences shoes.

How to Choose a Keyword For Ranking On Youtube Only
Through trial and error, I've learned what keywords I can rank for, and which ones I cant. These are the steps I take for judging a keyword via youtube only.

  1. I use longtail pro to find some keywords around the niche. Gives me a general Idea of The volume, popularity, and difficulty of the keyword
  2. I go on youtube and i search for the keyword. I analyse the other videos that are on the top of page 1.
    1. Does the video have the keyword in the title?
    2. Does the video have the keyword in the description?
    3. Is the keyword in the tags?
      1. To do this, go into the source code, look for "<meta name="keywords""
    4. How many total views does the video have?
    5. Is the channel a authority channel? 5k+ subscribers?
    6. I see how many daily views the video is getting
      1. Click on "More" underneath the video, and click statistics
  3. I now have a clear understanding on how well the video is ranking for that keyword. If Its not horribly desnse, I know I at LEAST have a shot.

How to Rank a Video on Youtube
There are a bazillion answers to this on bhw. use the search and figure out what people are saying. The only direct answer I can provide you is that you need to test. waste money, do case studies, and figure out whats working. No one here is going to give you a working method.

I rank my videos using

  • Views
    • Highish retention from a few providers on bhw.
    • Using google adwords for views. They work well. I pay on average $0.01 Per view. Not too shabby.

Here is your bible for ranking youtube videos on youtube.

You want everything to look as natural as possible. You do not want to spam the hell out of your video. this is suspicious as all hell. Take your time, drip everything. Be a smart marketer, and make it look natural.

I'm trying to find new methods too and aiming for high quality videos..Will be following this journey i'm working and living from youtube about 1 year now and it's getting tough to keep up.. I made mostly 80$/day almost from one niche, was hit hard as youtube deleted my two main videos but now i'm reviving them.. Good luck with this journey!

You and I are in the same shoes buddy. Hit me up on skype if you wanna discuss (I'll PM You).

Very nice writeup so far good luck. Do you do any link building to your video at all or is it strictly shares, embeds, likes, commsuch ents, and social factors?

I have some tips as well such as long writeups, comments from video posters account on other authority videos in the niche, and having an authority link in the long descriptioon

Day 2 Tasks

1. Upload the 2 Videos. Start Youtube SEO on the Video (Views, Likes, ect).
3. Do Some Deep Research Into my Link Building Strategy.

The Videos are now up. I'll now be dripping likes, shares ect.
I've gone ahead and purchased some social bookmarks, web 2.0 (w/ embeds). Will probably continue to push these 2 types of links relatively heavily. I'll be keeping keyword density down to hopefully 10%-15%.

I'll be using Niche Specific blog comments (with low obl ) to diversify my anchor text, using url, generic, partial ect. I'll then be using the web 2.0 and a few other platforms with high authority and content to hammer out the keyword I want to rank for.

subscribed! looks promising! i want to use free traffic using youtube and other video sharing sites hoping to learn from this thread.

best of luck mate!

parley? :D

Are you doing the likes/shares etc. yourself or using a service? If a service, what service? And what speed for the drip do you recommend? I am concerned that services - even when they drip - do it too fast. Any thoughts?

I'm using fiverr right now. I do drip, but i'm okay with the speed. The key (at least in my opinion) is to consistently drip.

What provider for HR-Views do you buy views from ?

Stick With truViews from the big G right now. no other view providers are safe.

Otherwise if you've got some spare change, test the view providers here on bhw and see which ones you have the best luck with. I believe there is a thread about it somewhere here.

Day3-4

Both videos have views being added to them. Likes, faves, subs, comments being dripped.
Waiting for 30 Web 2.0's (for each video) to get indexed naturally.
Waiting for 25 Manual Social Bookmarks to get indexed as well.

Subscribed.. Will be looking on this..

Ahh I've been waiting for a youtube thread, will be following this one. Good luck!

Could you please provide a link to it, i tried searching for truViews but didn't find any provider or website by that name.

Edit. OH, didn't realize it's truview from adwords, my bad

Day 5
-Sharing Time. Socialshares 2000+ on facebook, G+, Twitter

-continuing to add views, likes, ect.
-I'd like to start using a few parasite sites to try and rank the videos. Some Web2.0's, Using FB,Tw,Pinterest, Ect. as individual parasite sites. This will be done in the near future. Will be explained in greater detail.

Has anyone had experience (good or bad) with parasite sites? How about ranking videos on the big G?

Any input would be greatly appreciated.
