Try to disable Anti Virus briefly.

If that is not helping either, Google Search "Can't connect to Google Docs" and, look for different options until you find the solution.

I just reopened once again, refreshed, opened new pages, everything works as always.

In the last couple of hours, I see a lot of them complaining and the number of reports that GD is down has increased.

I guess it's Geo-related, they are working on something and will be back shortly.
