I am creating an authority website with a really enormous niche that is highly expandable. I am starting off with a wordpress blog and I already started posting to it. I will add a plethora of articles to it in the coming days. But I was thinking is there a way to convert the blog to a user based article website after it gains popularity and keep all the articles I've posted to it with the same URLS so they don't lose the ranking?

By user based I mean a website where users get to post there own articles to. The reason for this is that I want my website to start growing on it's own after it receives fair amount of organic traffic and popularity. Then my job becomes approving the good articles or moderate them and deny/delete the bad ones.

I would appreciate if any of you web programmers answers this question.

    Thanks!

Why don't you just post something interesting and let people comment, rather making a spam platform?

Have you searched for any plugin that does this? I am interested in this as well, but I would be very strict about what articles I accept and make sure to check them all for plagiarism. There's an article directory plugin that might make this work for you with some customization, you should look into that...

There are plugins that let you manage authors and let other post on the site. I have seen a number of Wordpress blogs with such functionality, just do some research regarding plugins. Your going to have to be careful as your going to have a ton of people coming to spam the site.

I will initially but once the website starts to get big, I will hire a moderating team to remove/reject any bad content.

Yes you can set the role of new members to contributors. This way everything they post will be pending for approval. I found some plugins that I will test shortly.

Yes thanks. But what I am concerned about is the change of platform and design when users sign in to wordpress. To a certain extent that is fine because most people are probably familiar with Wordpress. Though I wish there was any front-end way of doing this where users can manage their posts and profiles without going through the wordpress platform.
