Can we get a public chat?

I think it will be good to have like a chat room for the forum

+1, a VIP only chat or a chat room for higher level members would be interesting.

We had one years ago that was out of control and IMPOSSIBLE to moderate.

There used to be in in browser chat channel. It was shite.

This has been previously suggested, I don’t see the live-chat feature resurfacing any time soon.

Live chat doesn't work. for anything more than 1 to 1, or at most 2-3 people.

I've been involved in countless skype groups, and every one are utterly crap. No one talks, because how can you? What do you say?

"Hello!"

"hi!"

"How are you today??"

"Great, and you?!"

"I'm good too!"

"so.. how's it hangin'?"

"got any interesting projects?"

"uh, yeah, it's good.. working on some stuff you know.. rankin.. bankin.. The usual.. You?"

Seriously. This is how they all go. Occasionally you'll have some fighting/disagreements.

Any good chat is ALWAYS done privately 1 to 1.

No one's going to just start sharing openly in a live chat.

Forums are GOOD, because people open a topic, and 10's of thousands of people will see it, and the ones like the title, will cilck and if they have something to add, they will add. They can read the full history of the post, participate.

A live chat does not have this. It's just useless chit-chat.

I know you think in your mind that it's going to be this secret amazing area where the IM gods are sharing the secrets of the universe.

But you know, the truth is.. There are no secrets. There's really not. Everyone who makes money just works damn hard, for a long period of time and doesn't give up, and most of all, doesn't waste their time on chats.

I see no point in making a live chat.

There are lots of sub-forums to browse, and a lounge for everyday stuff.

Live chat makes it look like a social media platform (waste of time).

Voice chat will be dope as well, but that will be even harder to be moderated imo

We really need discord.

and i would gladly admin it. But im scared that so many will try to abuse it and lie in order to gain some sort of benifit or scam

All cool, but not everyone gonna download something just cuz its opensource. Also, there is no known XENForo Integration for that thing, while for discord there are 3 other addons. Also, those addons can add up to security.

it's not like discord promotes your server. might as well use matrix for a site like this. Not that I believe they will create either. idk if there's xenforo integration or not. There used to be a chat. It sucked.
