Can someone show me how to setup a FTP server?

I just cannot figure out how to access all the files on my website through filezilla or any ftp file browser. I need to edit the main pages to add in adsense code. I can get the ftp clients i use to connect, but i do not have access to the files i see in cpanel. Please help, much appreciated.

Where do I put the code? I have been searching the files in cpanel and now my ftp server for days trying to locate where to put the code and my pub-id.

Okay, im still a bit lost. I just need to add code to connect with adsense then add my pub-id so the ads display. How do I do this?
 
Im trying so hard to understand, but nothing seems to be working for me.
 
I use Total Commander instead of Filezilla client.
 
I figured it out guys, thanks for the help. And Asif that Google-publisher plugin works magic. I love it
