Can Google distinguish who is the original article

If i copy an article from a website, and put it on my blog with unfollow tag, can google distinguish who is the original article?
what a about a copy img?

Do you mean "original author" when you say original article? As long as your content gets indexed before another site copies and indexes it, then yes, the content should be "attributed" to you. You can also add structured data markup to your page to really ensure this.

Note, this isn't always the case... Google reps have said in the past that if a publisher is stealing your content, you should contact them on G+ and send a DMCA.

OP some say it matters which is indexed first, others say pageranking, I think it's both but also the date. Honestly I wouldn't worry about DMCA, just host in OVH or modolva and you'll be fine.

thanks for answering, as you said, google can distinguish the original article by the time two articles indexed, and what will google do to the copy website? won't get any traffic as punishment? or lower it's PR.
