Call Tracking for SEO

I have a question!

You can tell me if I'm being stupid, I won't cry. Just wondering, what's the best way to track people calling through the website. We have a busy website that gets calls all day long, and we need to track who came from the website and who didn't.

Tags are quite convoluted. Is there like a virtual number that can forward people to the main number and save that a call was taken or something?

Currently providing SEO for this client and they want to maximise their budget, and before we can even begin, we need to make sure leads are trackable.

There seems to be some stuff for $300+ / Mo which is a bit too high for us.
