Companies "spying" for the sake of marketing is entirely different than what Tik Tok is being accused of doing. The US believes they have credible evidence to suggest that the Chinese government is using Tik Tok to spy, for intelligence gathering and to what end, who knows. It's not a TRUMP thing since both Democrats and Republicans launched an investigation in November:
Well said. You make a lot of good points.
I am not convinced that TikTok is some sort of secret agency used by the CCP to extract national security intelligence that will jeopardize the safety of Americans lol. Even just saying that sounds funny.
Is it possible? Of course. Is it a stretch? Definitely. What exactly would the CCP do anyways if it were true? Invade America with it's military? Start WW3? Hack America to death? I don't really understand the fear and paranoia behind Americans always pointing fingers at an outside enemy threat. They did with with Russia, Cuba, Iraq, North Korea, ISIS, etc. They just love spreading fear to their own people because I think it helps some sort of agenda they have. None of these countries that have been accused of being a threat to America have ever actually posed a threat to America. There were no weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, North Korea never invaded or bombed the US...Russia never has, ISIS is not in America despite the one off incidents here and there by troubled individuals.
When and if China actually does invade America, then I'll be the first person to admit I was wrong about this. But America always plays the same record over and over again on every country they want to make into an enemy. "They are a threat to our national security blah blah blah".
