any advice on registering domain names? such as godaddy? does it matter who you register the domain with?

also, how important is having it private or public? if it is public will I get bombarded with spam emails and phone calls all day?

if I register a domain with a service will there be any difficulty in having website building and hosting with a different service?

thanks everyone

IMO it doesn't matter who you register your domain name with as long as they are ICANN accredited and have the services you will be needing for your domain the most important one being able to point Nameservers to your webhost if you'll be buying hosting from a different website.
Making your domain name public or private all depends on you and what your website will be all about. And no, you won't be bombarded with phone calls or emails unless your website is very popular and/or valuable.
I think the first paragraph of this reply also answers your last question.

Good luck!

It depends on you, how your domain will be. Work hard to make it worthy.

1. Well godaddy generally sucks balls. Their design is horrible and their checkout process is painful.
2. If I were you I'd just go with NameCheap instead. They offer free whois privacy.
3. Nope that's not a problem.
