I am starting a new online company and the domain I have is brand new (only 2 months old). I have found a website on Flippa that is for sale and has a PR6 ranking. The niche of the website is not exactly like my new online company but it is in the same industry. If I was to buy this PR6 website and do a permanent redirect like a 302, would this transfer the PR6 ranking to my new website? And if it does, will it last or will it only be temporary?

I have been in contact with the seller and it is 100% legitimate. I have verified the domain and backlinks several different ways.

So do you know of the PR will transfer?

    Thanks

A fool and his money are soon parted!!!

Please be careful my friend. Just because the owner says it's legit and you can see some backlinks doesn't mean the PR is real. Many sites are sold everyday with fake pr and of course the owners say it's legit...

I verified everything myself and I am willing to take the risk. I just need to know will the PR transfer over to my new domain? Is this possible to do if everything is legit?

    Thanks

Yes a 301 redirect to your domain will transfer over the PR. It will only last if the backlinks to the domain are kept intact, and that you continue building high quality links to your new site, and your site is of high quality. Be careful when purchasing high PR domains, it is very easy to fake one and make it look real. Some fake PR domains will even pass "fake PR detectors" that you find on the net.

There isn't immediate dilution of PR through 301's from my understanding. Whether Google likes the concept is another thing entirely.

Thanks a lot for the reply! So if everything turns out to be legitimate and all of the backlinks do stay intact, how big of an advantage is this for SEO purposes? When I try to rank for my specific keywords in my niche will it be that much easier to do since I'm a PR6?

Page Rank differs not only by domain, but by page, so I can't give you a straight answer on that one. I have one site with ranked PR on the main page, but the individual pages won't necessarily have any that are linked to it.

I don't see it hurting it though if you redirect domain direct to domain. It should pass the juice along, but to what extent I have no clue. Someone else with greater understanding will need to address that one.

Every week on godaddy auctions you can find TONS high pr domains for sale. Im sure you will find domain in same niche as yours - buy them, create websites and make private blog network or make 301 redirect.P.S. I was now looking on flippa for pr6 websites and few cost $ XXk or more, rest is not worth single penny. Share domain here and we will tell you if that domain is worth buying. You can also PM me that domain and i will help you.

You're either a really horrible bullshitter, or you are really naive to think that he should post his prospective domain on this forum.

Pagerank has no determination in ranking your website. If you want to be able to tell your friends that your site is PR6 then go ahead and do what you are doing. If you redirect and maintain the PR of the donor site then it will pass page rank. But if you are doing this to get a rise in the serps, dont bother it wont happen.

if everything is at you say (I doubt it as well) - is the content of that pr6 website relevant to your niche?

Go for it if it is Relevant.

My suggestion - keep the website, clean the links from that site and do a footer link:

    PHP:
    Maintained by <a href="http://www.yourdomain.com" title="Your Brand" target="_blank">Your Brand</a© 2005-2013
301 redirect will pass some juice, but it will be destroyed by G and you will get pr1 or 2 at its most.

    gl

    ---

ATT: if it hasn't got really great content - it is 100% FAKE... run Forest, run...

    Huge +1 for this one.

Check it as well at http://www.opensiteexplorer.org/ >> will determine domain and page authority.. should be at least 50 for domain authority and 60 for page authority
