Building a Successful Online Forum

Oh yeah, I started adding affiliate advertisements to the same locations I have been adding my own advertisements. Zero complaints.

Another question I have been exploring is, "Does Google care about online forum engagement?" So, does Google look for follow-up posts to new threads, and does it place more value to that thread and ultimately that link if there are responses/engagement?

As my user-base is growing I am able to free up some time with the persona accounts. This was initially tough because a few times someone would post a question specifically to a persona. In one instance, other members responded, then I had the persona respond and quickly mention they were on holiday. That persona is now gone.

I have been monetizing through Google Adsense, and am looking at Commission Junction (CJ) to possibly add into the mix.

you got my attention. bhw should award you for this topic, lol.

been following this forum for years and today i found about your topic.

is very interesting the marathon you're doing with alt accounts on your own forums.

there will come days when you don't want or you just can't post.

i'm surprised how humble you are in your words and at same time keeping quality analysis.

i don't have a forum, but i plan a app to compete and to take down twitter, instagram and tiktok. (bold arrogant words, huh?).

in reality all those apps and discord, telegram are just forums with a specific UI. so, forums will never die. just transform.

why i said bhw should award you for this topic?
because you see, this topic of yours didn't got much attention. poor likes and views, but made someone register, who would otherwise not create a account here. so, hi there, user.

tbh were times when i considered if you were just a chat gpt persona. because you seems to keep a straight line and not break the character. and i don't mean it in a negative way, but i mean it as laser focus.

my competition with instagram, discord and twitter isn't about money. is personal. i lost someone dear to me because of those apps.

is there a way we can connect in a private dm or something?

It is fascinating how "things" can co-exist with us and we do not "discover" them until later.

At this point it is fairly easy to do as part of my routine.

Yes, but on the days I am feeling very productive I create content and save it for such days.

I think in the chapter about "Organized Planning," Napolean Hill, in his text, "Think and Grow Rich," says:

Do not wait. The time will never be "just right." Start where you stand, and work with whatever tools you may have at your command, and better tools will be found as you go along. -- Napolean Hill

These platforms you have listed with with and against governments. If you are planning to take on giants, hopefully you are prepared for what that entails.

The common conception of online forums is that they are dying. I would say that online forums are here to stay, and that they have just morphed into barely recognizable platforms.

Twitter / X, Instagram, Snap, Facebook, Discord, and so forth are all online forums. They have the basics but just a new interface and accessibility. They have taken the BBS of yesteryear and supercharged them. Same concept though.

The old format, that you and I are using at this exact moment, still provides a solid solution for a lot of communities. Many of these communities that can benefit from "old school" online forums may not even be aware that such a solution exists. It is my belief that because so many people have discarded online forums such as BHW, or my own endeavors, it has left a void ripe with potential. There are definitely some industries or topics that this can impact more than others.

That is great! That now makes two new confirmed BHW members! Where's that affiliate money?

Perhaps a byproduct of all the personas.

I am sorry about your friend/family member.

Sure, start a conversation me at your convenience. (Mouse-over my name, then click, "Start conversation" button.)

I feel the same way

hopefully you are prepared for what that entails.

I have bigger giants on my side.
imagine how much profit every single forum owner would had made if wasn't for social media (discord servers, facebook groups, instagram) taking their members? my platform won't do that.

I don't see any way to DM anyone. Maybe new accounts can't do it

do you promote your forums?
any traffic , can you share traffic stats ?

building an active online forum is really hard.took me a lot of time to get it rolling. Most important part is that users receives good replies in the beginning

I will no longer be posting on this thread, or in BHW, due to BHW's insistence that ad blockers be turned off in order to interact with this site. My experiments will go on as will the turnings of the world. I find it humorous that a site calling itself "black hat" would force such a requirement on users. It is a bit hypocritical.

There are/were ten (10) advertisements on this one page alone. Are memberships down so much that such tactics are necessary? I am sure this forum could have thought of a better solution.

I spoke IRL with someone else on this forum who is currently in the process of writing a book about SEO. He originally had the thought of writing the book after reading posts on various sites, including BHW. When I asked him about this ad blocker fiasco he said it was unfortunate and he could easily edit his book before it gets published.

We had a good run BHW. I have been using this site for a hot minute, under various aliases and private proxies. Now it is time to move on.

Cheers! So long, and thanks for all the fish!

sad to see you leave.

I have to start a new forum for my wife now so it would be nice to keep the thread alive.
