Bought Penalized Domain and I'm Trying to Plan My Next Move

So, I bought a deleted domain that I thought was good, but it was actually a penalized domain. After days of trying to get Google to index the site, I see a notice in Google Search Console that I got a manual penalty for spam.

I only put up 3 articles on the site, but they're high-quality articles ranging from 700-2000 words. Should I just buy another domain and move the articles over?

I'm a little disappointed because I had built some traffic through sharing the article via forums/Reddit/etc. and invested time into setting up an email marketing list opt-in.

I submitted a review request for the domain, but I don't want to wait weeks to hear back from Google. Especially when they might even reject my request.

301'ing the deindexed domain to a new domain would be bad, right?
