Bought a mac and i regret it

I'm a Windows guy myself but I have learned over the years to love Ubuntu fro example. It was an investment of time. When you say you can't do anything is it the OS holding you back or a lack of apps? Frankly I have played with a Mac and it's a bit different but in a few days you can get acclimated.

well for me its because when I got my first laptop, I would feel too bad asking my mommy to pay 700 bucks for something I could get for 150.

Get Dell Precision. It's a workstation. It's like a walking desktop.
I'm currently using the old model - M4500.
Never failed me for so long after 3 years.
I'm waiting for their upcoming new model - M3800.
It is slim, packed with 16GB Ram, Intel i7 4th Gen, nVidia Quadro graphics card, and SSD.
Definitely a killer lappy for IM.
I like Dell's service too. Once, my laptop screen's LCD was leaking... I called their tech support, given a ticket. The technician arrived the next day and as the time agreed, and he fixed it asap and left in just less than 10 minutes.
Awesome support.
Can't wait for their M3800... said to be released October-November period.
Or if you want, you can get the current model M4700. It doesn't have i7's 4th gen, but you can maximize its RAM to 32GB, .etc.

I've had a few laptops and based on personal experience with all computers in general I always stay away from Dell like the plague, not a fan of Lenovo or Compaq either.
I would go with Toshiba or Asus those companies both make solid laptops at a reasonable price. I picked up a cheap Toshiba Satellite about 3 years ago and that thing has been through hell (physically) I take it with me whenever I go somewhere and it still runs like a champ.
There are few good reasons to go with an Apple computer most of the time you should just use Linux instead on something you built that will probably always be better than an Apple. Don't get me wrong there are a few reasons why you would use an Apple - mostly software related but I doubt it would apply to you.

My piece of advice, BUILD your own laptop. There are plenty of online companies that will build it for you and ship it. I've gotten my from OverClockers, most powerful ever. If I were to buy the same laptop of that specs from a brand like Dell, Alien ware or something, would be 2x-3x more expensive (checked it myself), because just having "Dell" on the laptop boosts the price.
Build your own, consult with the builder/company so they make sure it's all good, you'll get the best for whatever your budget is.

I like my mac, I hate all the virus issues with a PC. I would suggest you download a book on the Mac OS, it's pretty easy and intuitive. If my mom can use a mac anyone can learn, you should give it a chance, different is not necessarily bad. There are several solutions to using windows software on a intel mac. Linux can be pretty cool too and if you use something like Ubuntu Live you can just boot from a CD or DVD and you don't affect the software at all, that's an easy way to test drive and see if you like it. You can create a triple boot with Mac, Windows & Linux and have it all

Just an FYI since most Mac owners seem to be clueless when it comes to security Mac's can get viruses as well so you still have to take precautions and update things as well. On a side note a bit of knowledge will go a long way when it comes to avoiding viruses using Windows. Update your programs, uninstall useless things, don't run plugins in your browser like flash or java automatically at the very least and you will already be safer than most.

i bought a map 3 years ago and it's never ever broke and still super fast so my productivity is up. the only thing that would make it almost perfect is if i could take the screen out like a tablet with touch screen and stylus i think i would almost have everything i want
ps; i more thing hard drive small so i have shlep an external i do tons of video sales so the screenflow sessions are huge i do seminar recording a few of those fill up the hard drive

That's nice to hear.. Screw those overpriced worthless laptops. Those are for sheeple that think of fb anytime they hear "Internet"
I have been a mac user since 2008 and thank god for osx. I piss on winblows anyday. Only downside is that alot of seo tools runs on win so I have a vmware setup to run those tools there. Otherwise osx is very very very stable os. I suggest give it a try for a few weeks and you wil be adicted.

I love Asus as well. I have been wanting a Zenbook since last Christmas, they seem so convenient.

Ask the technical assistants to install Windows on your laptop. you just have problem with your OS so why not change only the OS instead of the whole laptop!

Mac maybe don't fit his personality because he's not like of the most people who buys macs. They are just sheep, as I like to say
Of course, small number of people really use that potential macs give them, especially programmers. Others just like that design and 'cool' logo.
