Boss is always right

I am sure all of us might have come across this term if you working in the corporate world. I seriously am confused because when someone owns the company does it always have to be that whatever the boss talks about is always right just because he owns the company?

It's high time we think about this terms, I know some members might come saying who needs a boss when you are your own boss but still...

If you don't agree with your boss, you should always explain your points, and discuss it with them. If your boss doesn't want to know for whatever reason, and you have a problem with it, you still need to do what the boss says as they own the company and pay your wages. Just look for another job and leave if really unhappy with the boss.

It all boils down to 1 simple thing..

do you need that job or not ?

If Yes then boss is always right
If No then boss can go f*ck himself

I am talking in general although I do agree with your points!

The boss is always right in his eyes.

What worked well for him 20 years ago, might be outdated now.
It's difficult to sometimes offer suggestions for improvements, in case you're seen as sticking your nose in or speaking out of turn.

If you go to the boss with a plan ( say a drawing to say this can save us time if we do this, what do you think ) and word it so that the boss thinks it's his idea.... It might work.

It is very difficult task to handle different people as employees, to manage a company and to take care of everything. As an employee we get frustrated by just doing a job but boss have to take care of every job. Obviously he have experience and that is why managing a company and knows many keypoints which employee doesn't know. First put yourself in anyone shoes who is a boss and then you will never raise this point.

The boss is not always right but the boss is always the boss.

A good boss will know he is not always right but someone has to take responsibility for the final decision made in any particular situation and he or she is taking that responsibility.

If your boss is always right - you have a problem. the main problem in this mindset is GROWTH. If you believe that you are always right, there's no way you will grow as a person/brand/name/product or w/e. There is no way for improvements. There is no way for possible NEW clients to come.

If the boss is always right - he's an idiot. Period.

When I was still working in corporate world I was destroying this machine of "the boss is always right" mentality and it worked for me too many times. So if I get the answer to my suggestion "boss is always right" - I always close the door. From outside.

You become the REAL BOSS by Taking the right decisions not by just Owning the Company.

hmm. I think it totally depends on the person itself. If you are dealing with a person that has a narcissistic behaviour then he probably tells you to take your idea and shove it up your ass, since that is the way they are "programmed" - No matter how good your plan is, they will always know it better because "they are the CEO", they always know it better in their opinion and you are just a peasant working for their company and know nothing.
Sadly, a lot of CEO'S/Bosses are this way.

There are exceptions to this, you can also have a boss that is a loving person and that actually cares for his workers. They are actively working out solutions to problems and include their workers in it. A great boss thinks like this in my honest opinion. A great boss still has the last word, but he is open to hear other opinions from his workers, and at best chance, apply them. He cares for his company, cares for his workers and tries to make everyone feel good in his company. A boss that the worker can take as a "role-model", as a good example of "what you can become", and not someone that everyone talks shit about once he turns his back.

So yeah; To conclude this i would say. No the boss is not always right, i agree that he has the power and he is the person that makes the decision but he should be willing to listen and learn from other people, because guess what. No one is perfect.

I work in the corporate world and make a 6-figure income so it's obviously a job that I can't afford to lose. I flew up the foodchain and quadrupled my salary in 6 years by working hard and smart but also because I didn't keep my mouth shut when I disagree with the boss. The way I see it, we are all working for a cause together as a team and no one is more important than another BUT because the boss leads the way, we need to make him look good. This means that I will never bad talk him behind his back but if he says nonsense, I will always speak up and give him my 2 cents on the matter. I won't be rude about it but I will tell him what negative reactions may result from his strategy and offer my 2 cents on the matter or setup a warroom so that 6-8 of us can sit down together and revise the plan. Now, if he is stuck on his plan and doesn't want to budge, then I will still support him and protect his ass as much as I can.

Even if we disagree with the boss, it doens't mean that we are right. We don't always have all the data or a picture of the whole plan so we can't always offer them constructive feedback but it's important to speak up. It shows you care about your job, your company and its future.

I am my own boss.. and I love it.. After 15 years in the US Navy as a P3 Pilot.. I had a Lt. Boss.. No more now.. I am retired living in PI .. with my pinay wife.. All is good.. I make my money online.. We are happy..

The confusion stems from the ambiguity of the word "right". It's much cleaner if you think it in terms of "who gets to decide" instead of "right".

Take for example the army. If you're the general, you get to decide. If you're the foot soldier, you may have an opinion but the general gets to decide. The idea is that you as a foot soldier submit to the decision of the general. Hence, in the collision of opinions, the general is right. This doesn't imply that the general is right in terms of future results. So the general's decision might turn out catastrophic while the soldier's might have turned out awesome - but that's irrelevant.

Yes, Boss Is Always Right.

Who is BOSS? He is the supreme power, A decision maker, The pay master and what not? Of you want to survive and to have a peaceful working environment you have no other alternative than to accept (or pretend to act as) the Boss as always right.

No Boss, though may be wrong on many matters, will be prepared to accept it as EGO will be dominant with them.

Well, in the end don't break any rules and things will work out

I believe in two rules:
1) Boss is always right.
2) In case he is wrong, see rule number 1.

On a more serious note, I am lucky to have a boss who is always willing to say "I am wrong", if so. Not everyone is that lucky.

It's his business, not mine. He invested and still invests a lot of money into the business. I, on the other hand am just an employee. I might be talented, but I did not have the courage to invest that amount of money into my own business. Hence, I have to play by those two rules above.

Boss is right or wrong. It does not matter as long as we express our points with example and with data. Its not that boss always buy our explanation but if it happens mostly then its a time for change.

Does it really matter if the boss is “right”? If your boss tells you to do something, then do it. If you want to impress them then go above and beyond what you were told to do and over deliver on your work in the allotted time. If you think you know better then prove it in your work.

I want people working for me who can follow directions and do as I say. It’s not because I think I’m always right, because I’m not and nobody ever is. It’s about having a plan and following through with it and you want everyone to be on the same page. A Company has a big overall picture of how things are going to work and the people doing the work are assigned a task. Their task might be delegating work to people below them and the bigger the company the more layers and levels there are between the top brass and lowest man on the pole. Think of it as a well oiled machine and people are the parts that keep it moving and if you get some ass that thinks he knows better and ventures away from the plan, then they fuck up everyone else.


To summarize: do as you’re told and impress me with your results.

Before you start telling off the boss, come up with a solution first. Theres' a saying, "Don't talk to me unless you have the solution".
