Blogging Idea - Your Input?

Hey guys,

I wanted to know what you guys think of this -I'm thinking of setting up a blogging site kinda like fmylife, postsecret, or textsfromlastnight. I feel like I've got a good niche. keyword research below.


[keyword] 8100 global matches $0.10 cpc
"keyword" 22,000 global matches $1.35 cpc
EMD taken for .com, but .net available
"keyword" returns 74 pages on google
"keyword" 2,100,000 results
intitle: "keyword" 3880 results
inurl: "keyword 1520 results
allintitle: "keyword" 130,000 results
allinurl: "keyword" 60,600 results


So I have two questions.

1.) Given the info, what do you think of the difficulty of this to rank to #1 in google, how long would it take? Is this worth pursuing?
2.) I don't really wanna spam ads all over the page (maybe 1 or 2 would be fine), so what are other ways sites like those monetize?

Depends on your keyword, to be honest I didnt read you whole post before posting just because im doing something similar. My site is already up just set to maintenance mode until I fix a few ccs issue's. Just been so busy spamming I kind of forgor about it. But if you want to PM me to share ideas / websites i'll show you whats up with mine. Im almost kinda wondering if your going for the same keyword lol

*edit* after reading your keyword stats we arnt going for the same thing.

you can use some tools such as traffic travis (it's also free) and check out competition easy. If it's not big it's easy to get in the top 20

so how does one monetize a blogging site like this?
