Is the gaming niche best for a blogging career?
If you're really passionate about gaming, and you are focused on a specific niche within this very broad topic category, I don't see why not.
A lot of people who are active in the gaming blogosphere are quite successful if you connect the dots in terms of their organic traffic volume as well as their YouTube channels.
I would suggest that if you are passionate about gaming and you are laser-targeting a fairly narrow range of sub niches, that you go deep.
What do I mean by that?
You should not only have a blog, but you should have an account on all the major social media networks.
You should also have your own YouTube channel and create a brand around your blog.
Your blog is the written version of your brand.
But there are also different versions.
There's the Pinterest which has picture-driven version, there's the Instagram version, then there's a YouTube version.
The key here is to let your passion push you to get the word out across these many different platforms.
And if you're able to do this, you will be able to generate at least a decent amount of traffic until your organic traffic kicks in.
Because biggest challenge with blogging is that if you put in the work or you think you did put into work, and your website isn't generating any traffic and you're not making any money, you end up quitting.
Did you know that according to The New York Times, more than 95% of blogs fail?
You don't want to run into that wall.
I understand that you're passionate.
And I definitely encourage you to go with that passion, but you have to have a plan coming in.
If not, things are going to be rough.
As the old saying goes, "If you fail to plan, you're actually planning to fail."
