Hard to give you a hard number, but probably a couple thousand, but many of those are 2nd and 3rd tier links.

I have been building links at this rate for a little more than a year.

I have purchased blog comments/forum profile blasts. Forum profile blasts I usually did myself with SEnukeX but I find forum profile blasts didn't work when directed directly to my site. I usually use forum profiles for 2nd/3rd tier links.

Social Bookmark blasts rock the serps more for me.

I know you mentioned a few more sources of backlinks in this thread,
care to divulge a few more?

I'm really beginning to think that Google's began to dive into analyzing
backlink trends of natural vs. unnatural linkbuilding methods.

I had probably bought some services from op's who put some articles into BMR, but I don't think that was my problem as I had a very very very small portion of my links in BMR, probably less than 1%.

I have already started to get my mojo back!

My ip diversity for links was top notch. I don't think I could of diversified any better, but it sounds like my anchor text needed more diversification and this is what I am working on now.

Thanks everyone for support and suggestions and I would be glad to keep this going as long as need be.

Please keep us updated, especially if you rebound.

It sounds like your IP diversity if good, in fact likely TOO good.

Take a good hard look at the sites that have been ranking for
some time in Google for your keywords. Analyze their backlinks.

Focus on those that haven't artificially built links. If you run into
them, skip them for now. Begin copying the "style" of links from
those sites that haven't done any artificial link building.

That sucks... How much has your traffic decreased by? I reckon by 30-50%?

Probably around 50-60%...maybe more

I'm not going to sit on my hands and do nothing. I had just started to feel really confident with seo and then I get punched in the face. Over coming obstacles is what this is about. Life is never easy, but hell, just drank that beer and now its time to have some fun!

Google is being a stupid little vag lately. I know we all game the system but some of my sites dropped below real trash sites! I am raking higher in bing and yahoo but nobody uses these search engines. Hopefully google will continue to produce shite results and crap like google instant, google + and all the other crap they spend their time on.

I think they have forgotten that they are a search engine and this Panda mongoloid. Is not doing them any favors. This empire will fall soon and then its on to the next one.

Yeah, my search results in yahoo and bing are still there, so I am happy about that, but bing and yahoo only count towards 5% of my total traffic so that's a bummer.

I have been formulating a plan to get back on top and the first step I am going to take is to start the backlinking process to my 200+ blog posts that is in the blog that is associated with my site.

Before today, my main focus was building links to the five main product pages and I think I can create more value by deep linking into the many inner pages that I currently have.

Also, I will continue to add high-quality unique content to the blog (hopefully 2-3 posts per day) and add relevant high-quality content to those blog entries that I am linking from.

I have plotted the next 20 days to do this and I will wait and see the results. If I see modest improvement over these 20 days, I will extend this time frame. If I see no improvement, then its time to reexamine my strategy.

In the same respect, I will mix in quality backlinks with high quality content to my main pages, but in a lesser ratio then to the blog posts.

I will take the advice of my fellow members and add greater variation in my anchor text to make it look more natural, for example adding anchor text such as "click here" "get more information" etc...

What I have experienced over the last few days is something that I wish on no one here. Someone said it was like losing a child and this is also something I would never wish on another father/mother.

I'm ready go and motivated to overcome this obstacle. Google, get ready to be Black Hat World style bitch slapped! ha...

I have been following this lately. Many of my big money sites got slapped last weekend. I was able to understand few things. Still testing though.

It doesn't look like manual penalty. Many people are reporting the same over the past two days. Its an algo update.

Some major changes are effecting many sites. I would suggest do more natural link building.

I have somewhat same situation. My website was hit on 19th of january and still hasnt bounced back. The second time this is happening actually, first time it got back after a month or two. All kw on 600+ position...

The strange thing happened few days ago.. It`s a review site and i`m targeting some 20 kw, but couple days ago i saw one of my kw bounced back to page one.

Just one keyword and one page... Link building for all pages is exactly the same, and the kw are somewhat similar , so i am wondering why did google decide to rank that one page, what makes it special and different than others?

Good approach, my 2 cent is: make some changes in your meta title and meta description. Nd if you can make some changes in the description too. i confirm you, this helps
