Bitch Slapped by Google?

I'll have to agree with Sleinad, don't ever stop building completely and i'm sure that raised a flag. Either way i hate these stories, seems like you'll get slapped when you least expect it.

I haven't stop building and there are still many links out there that I am sure google has not crawled yet so I don't think this is what occurred.

I am going to put out a social bookmark blast and see what happens.

I did not expect the slap at this time, everything was going so great. If this doesn't turn around for me quickly, I am going to have to join the ranks of working for someone else, suck!
 
Maybe there was a manual review of your site? Does your site look good and provide quality information? I know how it feels.. I had manual review on my spammy site before and lost thousands of dollars income because of slap.

Now I build only quality sites.

The site is of very High Quality. No adsense whatsoever. The site is SEO optimized in every way. The site is a retail site, looks very professional. The site is optimized for fast page load speeds.

I said this in my original post, but I will say it again. The links I built to the site were spammy. I used a lot of spun content. I purchased a ton of services here on the services section, I used SEnukeX. This probably led to the site being slapped.

Time to double down and see what happens over the next two weeks.
 
For future reference, I always make sure that my first tier backlinks are of almost the same quality as my moneysite and I try to get the greatest diversity of domains and IP addresses as possible. It makes it a pain to build backlinks but it helps keep things safe. Now, the further down the tiers I go, the spammier and spammier my links get. I have yet to encounter a problem using this approach.

Now before I started organzing my backlinks in this way, I lost a lucrative website to a massive google slap. I hope your site recovers...losing an aged money making website is like losing a child lol.

Yes, this is definitely the best approach, I just don't know how to scale that approach so that it makes a big difference in the SERPs.

And yes, I feel like I lost a child.

I have other aged domains that I have under my control that I have never used, I am wondering if its a good idea to just trash my current domain and go with one of the domains I am not using and start over. Just thinking out loud.

Google's latest algorithm update is set to destroy websites
that have been artificially "gaming" the system. I track and
monitor close to 200 separate campaigns and have seen
the results you are experiencing recently.

Most sites that were hit as hard as yours was as a result of
massive artificial linkbuilding. Chances are each of those
services that you purchased backlinked the same pages

Include absolute URL links, get some image links, do what you can
to diversify everything.

Take a look at competitors that aren't buying links. What is their anchor text?
How are they receiving backlinks? COPY those methods. The simple buying
your way to the top days are OVER. Google's changed the way that link-
building is working!

Thanks for the advice. I have huge anchor text variation when it comes to keywords. I have NOT used click here, find out more, check them out and others and that is good advice. I can start doing that along with absolute url links.

While huge anchor text variation USED to work well, its a
new ballgame as of recently.

Most of the anchor text variation previously recommended
by others was something along the lines of this

"primary keyword"
"primary keyword variation"
"the primary keyword variation"
"longer primary keyword"
"primary keyword longtail"

Where the main keyword is included in each variation. While
that WAS a great strategy, now its important to have ~20% of
your links appear natural.

I'd love to hear feedback from those that have been hit hard
recently, specifically what kind of backlinks they had, and
how much link diversity they had as well.

The way you described the keyword variation is exactly what I was doing, but I had 147 of these type of variations so I thought I was going down the right path, but you make a good point about the 20% that need to look more natural and that is something that is easy to do.

My backlink profile consisted of everything. I had huge ip diversity. Out of the 10,000+ backlinks counted in my google webmaster account, over 9,000 were from single domains and the other thousand were bunched around a handful of domains.

I used SEnukeX, bought wiki posting services, press releases, social bookmarks, a ton of private networks, article posts, link pyramids, etc...if there was a type of link out there, I obtained it.

The link that I liked the most was the private network links as they gave the fastest and most powerful boost.

Since your site was/is not DEINDEXED, then there is no need to do that... just yet.

If you are constantly link building over a long period of time it will look more genuine than when you blast you site, then stop when your rankings drop suddenly..

i have a different opinion about this. because my site dropped to 100+ serp on all keywords, i felt that i should stop back linking because i think (imho) that people wont link you because they can find you. just my two cents bro. :) :beers:

i have one good development for my site. from 100+ i got one keyword to 46, while the new keyword i have injected through a new post dropped from 60-64. im also getting some organic visits today. :) i hope that my whole site recover the soonest. more beer! :beer: :beer: :beer: :beer: :beer: :beer:

I am going to continue to backlink and I am going to implement more keyword variety like what was talked about above and I have a couple hundred pages in our blog that is attached to the site so I am going to do a lot more backlinking to those pages too.

I have 5 main product pages that we sell from and all the linking was targeted at those pages so I think it should help if I do a good concentrated effort to link to more pages in the blog. All the pages in our blog get indexed in google really fast, like same day. I put up a blog post one time and I saw someone search and land on that page five minutes later.

The one keyword that brought my site about 25% of my traffic is now sitting on page 5. If I can get these keyword back onto the bottom of page 1 or top of page 2 I should be able to generate maybe 10% of my total traffic from that position. My number 2 keyword went from #5 to #17, but at #17, this keyword will generate very little if any traffic.

I still have other long tail keywords that have brought me traffic today, but I need a high volume of traffic per day to convert the number of sales that I need to support myself.

How many links were you building a month?
How long have you been building links at around this amount?
Have you done or purchased any blog comment / forum profile blasts?
 
Dammit exactly the same thing happened to me on Sunday night. My #1 site dropped all its keywords 5-6 spots. 100% unique content, the best site of its niche, thousands of backlinks from every place that you can imagine, thousands of non-spam comments posted by users... and now my earnings dropped 60%. Never seen something like this either... this sucks.
 
Did you use BMR? I had 1,100 posts for the site that got slapped.
